Big E Would Be Content If He Never Competed Again

Big E with WWE Championship

Having suffered a potentially career-threatening injury, Big E has commented that he would be content to move on if he could never wrestle again.

It was reported on 13th July that, despite the seriousness of the the neck injury suffered, Big E is on track to make a full and complete recovery which could well allow him to step inside the squared circle and compete once again.

The injury occurred when Big E took a belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland on the 11th March 2022 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. However, the former WWE Champion landed awkwardly on the top of his head and neck rather than flat on his back. He was quickly taken backstage for medical attention and it was later confirmed that he had broken his neck.

March 2023 seems to be the date for the next full evaluation on the WWE Superstar’s recovery, at which point a decision will seemingly be made whether he can return to action.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Big E discussed how he is not worrying about what that consultation will involve as it’s a long way and he’s currently enjoying his time away as best he can.

It’s really one of those ‘wait and see’ things, I really can’t say. I don’t know whether I’ll be back in March at 100% or if they’ll look at say, ‘Maybe you should be doing something else with your life.’ For me, March of next year is very far off, so I don’t want to spend a lot of time worrying and stressing about that. I’ve been with this company for 13 years. That means a lot of Saturdays and Sundays in Poughkeepsie and Kalamazoo and most random towns. But, now I get to live my life a little bit and see some friends and I’m enjoying just being human.

Big E went on to admit that he would be content if the outcome was that he couldn’t wrestle again.

Yeah, I think so. Honestly, my philosophy as a human being is learning to be content with whatever life brings you. I’m so grateful to not be in a wheelchair, but if I was, I would have to adjust to life in a wheelchair. That’s just how I am programmed. If I spend hours or days or weeks kind of mourning where I’m at in life, and not being what I wanted to be, that doesn’t serve me.

Whilst not able to actively compete, it has been confirmed that Big E will be involved in working with Triple H at the WWE Tryouts ahead of SummerSlam.
