Backstage Update On Rumoured December AEW Pay-Per-View

AEW Crowd

AEW is looking to squeeze in another pay-per-view before the end of 2023.

Back in September, it was reported that Tony Khan was looking to add another pay-per-view to AEW’s 2023 schedule.

The promotion’s calendar has become increasingly stacked in the second half of the year with a number of major events taking the headlines. AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door was held in June, followed by All In on August 27th, All Out on September 3rd, and WrestleDream on October 1st. Full Gear is also set to be held on November 18th.

It’s also been suggested that AEW could host up to 12 PPV events in 2024, mirroring the model favoured by WWE. The move is believed to be linked to AEW moving to MAX.

Although there’s been no official announcement regarding the new December event, it’s been reported via Fightful Select that it’s currently penciled in for Saturday, December 30th.

What’s Next For AEW?

Next up for All Elite Wrestling is the traditional November pay-per-view Full Gear. With the event four weeks away only one match has been confirmed, with MJF set to defend the World Championship against Jay White. The bout will be the first time White has challenged for the company’s World Title.

MJF won the gold back at Full Gear 2022 with victory over Jon Moxley, thanks to a helping hand from William Regal, who turned on the Blackpool Combat Club star in the process. Since winning the title, MJF has defended it only seven times.
