There are plans for AEW to add one more pay-per-view event in 2023, according to a new report.

The year 2023 is the fifth year that AEW has been in business and it’s the year that will have the most pay-per-views in a calendar year. Earlier this month, AEW held the All Out pay-per-view just one week after the massive AEW All In pay-per-view, which was AEW’s first show in England in front of over 70,000+ fans.

Next up on the AEW PPV calendar is the first-ever WrestleDream event taking place on Sunday, October 1st in Seattle. Two matches already announced for that show include Bryan Danielson facing Zack Sabre Jr. and “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland as well.

There will also be the fifth annual Full Gear PPV on Saturday, November 18th in Los Angeles.

AEW plans to add a final PPV of 2023 in late December

It was reported last week that AEW had plans to run 12 PPV events per year starting in 2024, so it’s not a surprise to learn that there will be one more PPV event in December as well.

According to Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, AEW is discussing a Friday, December 29th, 2023 date for the eighth and final AEW PPV of the year.

While AEW doesn’t usually do Friday PPVs because that would be against WWE Smackdown, it’s possible that WWE has a “best of” type of show that night rather than a new episode of Smackdown.

The company has yet to comment on it publicly or announce any specifics about a possible new PPV event.
