Backstage Atmosphere Reportedly “Strange” Amidst Vince McMahon Allegations

A new report has given an insight in to the current mood backstage in WWE, whilst allegations against Vince McMahon led to him stepping down as CEO until investigations have been completed.

A week on from the original story being uncovered by The New York Post, many people are still trying to get a full understanding of the allegations from a former female employee of WWE over the conduct of Vince McMahon.

It was previously reported by Fightful Select that there was frustration backstage with everything which was happening, including one anonymous source commenting on McMahon’s appearance on Friday Night SmackDown as a “cheap ratings ploy in the middle of something serious”.

A new report courtesy of PWInsider has noted that a lot of people within the company are keeping “their heads down” in case allegations are made against other executives, which is in turn leading to there being a “lot of silence” in the backstage area.

Stephanie McMahon has stepped in as interim Chief Executive Officer for WWE whilst the investigation continues in to her father, although he will maintain all his creative duties during this time. The report notes that there is a lot of sympathy towards Stephanie due to her returning from the leave of absence she had taken to focus on her family.

John Laurinaitis has also been removed from his position as part of the investigation, with his role as Head Of Talent Relations being filled by Bruce Prichard.

There has reportedly been a “lot of shaking of heads” at Vince McMahon’s mood, as despite the nature of the allegations he has seemingly remained upbeat, as well as making in-character appearances as Mr. McMahon on both SmackDown and Raw.
