AEW’s MJF Names What Business He Loves In Addition To Pro Wrestling

MJF holds court on AEW TV

MJF is a lifelong wrestling fan living his dream, but he also has a passion for another profession.

The current AEW World Champion, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, is the youngest reigning and longest reigning AEW World Champion in company history.

Now in his second reign as AEW’s top wrestler, MJF is reminding everybody that he is a complete wrestler who can not only deliver amazing promos but also produce amazing matches.

In an interview with the Kairouz Bros in Australia while promoting AEW Grand Slam Australia, the not-so-humble AEW World Champion bragged about his career success.

“I’m 29. I’m feeling fine. I’ve accomplished more in professional wrestling than most people could ever dream of with a 30-year career. I’ve been doing this for 10. I’ve not even hit 30 yet. I’m a legend. Crazy.”

While talking about his career success, MJF went on to say that he has always wanted to be an actor in addition to being a pro wrestler. MJF has been in major films like Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2” in recent years.

“As far as the acting career goes, you know, growing up, the two things I wanted to do was professional wrestling and acting. It was always my two biggest passions.”

“And yeah, I just think God afforded me the gift of Gabby. He afforded me the ability to entertain, whether people like me or not, the ability to entertain.”

“I really, really enjoy being on set of a movie. I would say I love making movies as much as I do making magic in pro wrestling.”

MJF Sees The Positives Of Acting Compared To Pro Wrestling

As a pro wrestler, beating up your body is part of the job and sometimes it even leads to scary things like CTE, which affects the brain. MJF remarked about that while also insulting AEW’s Eddie Kingston.

“Look, it’s not a bad thing at all. It’s less bumps I gotta take and less CTE I’m walking towards.”

“You know, a guy like Eddie Kingston, he’s already got full-blown CTE. Let’s be honest. I mean, the guy doesn’t even know where he is anymore.”

Even though MJF loves acting, he plans to remain a part of pro wrestling as much as possible.

“No matter how big I get in acting, I am always going to try to fit professional wrestling into my schedule as much as possible.”

“For example, while I was shooting Violent Night 2 and Happy Gilmore 2, I was on television.”

“I would do TV. I would get on a jet. I would fly to Winnipeg. I would shoot. And then I’d get back on a jet and I would go back to TV.”

Up next for MJF is an AEW World Title defense at the AEW Grand Slam Australia event taking place on Saturday, February 14th, and airing in the Collision timeslot on TNT in the US. The show has already been taped due to the time difference in Australia, but here’s a spoiler-free rundown of the loaded card.

  • AEW Championship: MJF vs. Brody King
  • AEW TNT Championship Ladder Match: Kyle Fletcher vs. Mark Briscoe
