AEW Star Wants Edge & Christian In 2023

Edge Christian WWE Tag Team Champions

One AEW star has named Edge and Christian as their dream tag team match for 2023 and suggests it could happen despite the obvious WWE connection.

Edge returned to WWE screens for the first time since Extreme Rules when he entered the men’s Royal Rumble in the Alamodome. The last time he entered that match in 2021, he came face to face with his longtime tag team partner Christian before Captain Charisma made the switch to AEW.

Speaking on his FTR podcast, Dax Harwood noted that he’d love for himself and Cash Wheeler to face off with Edge and Christian and cryptically notes that it might be more possible than people think despite the split company loyalties:

“They won’t mind me saying this but this is more possible than a lot of people might think. Me and Cash, FTR against Edge and Christian. That’s a tag team match I would absolutely love to have. Those two guys are two of the best storytellers in the ring. I don’t think that’s an overstatement or over-rating them, I think a lot of people see that as well. They’re incredible storytellers.”

“I think they led a generation – one of the leaders of a generation of tag teams and I would like to think humbly speaking (FTR is) one of the leaders of a generation of tag teams so that would be number two.”

Harwood’s reference to number two is because he reveals his first dream opponent in a singles match would be current WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther.

Edge has a tag team match of a different kind in his immediate future as he will team up with his wife Beth Phoenix to face The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley at Elimination Chamber.
