AEW Star Now A Free Agent
A veteran AEW star is on the verge of leaving the company.
Back in September, it was reported that Dustin Rhodes’ AEW contract was on the verge of expiring. The report claimed the former WWE star would become a free agent at the end of October.
Rhodes is currently one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions with Sammy Guevara and one-third of the World Six-Man Tag Team Champions with The Von Erichs. However, he hasn’t wrestled since shortly after the news of his contract status broke, with his last match coming on October 2nd.
The veteran has been with the company since 2019 but has spent most of 2024 wrestling on Rampage and in Ring of Honor.
Dustin Rhodes Hasn’t Signed New AEW Deal
A new update from Fightful Select has confirmed that Rhodes’ contract is now up, but that doesn’t mean he’s actually left the company. According to Sean Ross Sapp, negotiations between the two parties are ongoing, but no agreement has been reached.
The report reiterated that as well as wrestling, Rhodes has been helping backstage with the women’s division.
The veteran is on course for his busiest year since 2018, having already wrestled more times than any year since 2020.
