A top AEW talent has shared their thoughts about potentially returning to WWE.

After wrestling for AEW from 2021 to 2023, Andrade El Idolo returned to WWE in 2024 as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble.

Coming in at #4, he spent 23 minutes in the match without securing an elimination. He was later eliminated by Bronson Reed.

WWE did not waste much time with him either, booking him as an ally of Rey Mysterio, who, at the time, had been feuding with his son Dominik.

The alliance led to a tag team match at WrestleMania XL, where Andrade and Rey defeated Dominik and Santos Escobar. Andrade then continued his singles run, defeating Ricochet to win the WWE Speed Championship, which he held for five months.

He was part of the mid-card there on, unsuccessfully challenging for the United States Championship on a couple of occasions.

After the 2025 Money in the Bank PLE, he was partnered with Rey Fenix, which turned out to be surprisingly good. Fans especially enjoyed the camaraderie between the Mexican superstars as well as their fast-paced action in the ring.

At SummerSlam, they were part of a six-team tables, ladders, and chairs match for the WWE Tag Team Championship, then held by The Wyatt Sicks. Despite putting on a clinical performance, Andrade and Fenix failed to win the titles.

It was Andrade’s last match in the company as he disappeared from television and was released on September 13, with reports claiming that it was due to a violation of WWE’s wellness policy on more than one occasion.

AEW Star Andrade El Idolo Not Interested In Returning To WWE

Following his September 13 departure, Andrade reappeared on AEW on the October 1 taping, where he attacked Kenny Omega.

WWE cited it as a violation of the 90-day no-compete clause, which had now apparently extended to 1 year due to the breach. Nevertheless, after negotiations, his no-compete clause was waived in December, allowing Andrade to make appearances outside WWE.

The 36-year-old then returned to AEW on the January 7, 2026, episode of Dynamite, continuing his run as a member of the Don Callis Family.

Since his return, Andrade has been featured in many singles matches. The company has also been presenting him as somewhat of a playboy, as he is seen taking photos with beautiful women in the audience during his matches.

He has also been teased as an AEW World Championship contender, although it has yet to fully materialize.

During a recent Q&A session on his Instagram Story, El Idolo was asked by a fan whether he missed WWE and if he would contemplate ever returning.

He gave a definite response that he was not interested in returning; however, he stated that he would like to face Rey Mysterio and Carmelo Hayes again.

No!!! But I would definitely like to wrestle Rey Mysterio and Carmelo again.

Following his September 2025 release, Andrade claimed that he did not enjoy his WWE run due to the multiple restrictions that pertained to the roster talents.
