3-Time WWE Champion Disappointed In His Matches With Chris Jericho
Every time Chris Jericho steps inside the ring, he gives fans their money’s worth.
However, 3-time WWE Champion Perry Saturn feels that his matches with Jericho failed to deliver and ended up disappointing the audience.
Speaking in a recent interview on the Wrestling Organization Online YouTube channel, Saturn opened up about his in-ring chemistry with Chris Jericho. He revealed that, for some reason, he never liked any of the matches they had together.
This last guy was never really difficult to work with, and he’s one of my friends, one of my very few friends. So, I love this guy. I would work with him any night of the week. But I always felt like, and I’m assuming he felt the same way, that we under-delivered for some reason. I always felt like we had a better match in us, and we just never got there, and I don’t know why. And that would be Chris Jericho.
Why Perry Saturn Didn’t Like His Matches With Chris Jericho?
Saturn explained that even though both he and Chris Jericho put their heart and soul into those matches, they never turned out the way he hoped. According to him, both of them should’ve pushed themselves more, going beyond their limits.
Some like we had a dog collar match at a WCW pay-per-view. God awful. Neither one of us ever did a dog collar before, and that chain, it was just a pain in the a**. So the gimmick hurt that match. But a lot of matches we had, I just never felt like they were as good as they should have been. And I’m thinking Chris probably felt the same way.
Both of us had a lot of pride in what we did. Chris still does. He’s still doing it. But that’s something I don’t understand. Like Chris was stiff, like I am. So after the match, you knew you had a match, and then the match wasn’t as good as you thought it should be.
So that makes the stiffness even worse when you know you’re going out there and we’re really laying into each other, and then we’re going to end up disappointed. So I don’t know if the fans were disappointed or not, but I always ended up feeling like it wasn’t as good as we could have had. (From 5:58)
