SummerSlam is the biggest party of the summer in WWE.

While the Stamford-based company has three other premium live events—Backlash, Clash in Italy, and Night of Champions—before August, SummerSlam continues to remain the main focus.

Last year’s summer PLE was held across two nights for the first time since its premiere in 1988, which will continue as a tradition until the promotion’s higher-ups decide otherwise.

In 2026, it will emanate from the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on August 1 and 2.

Night 1 of the 2025 event saw Gunther and CM Punk compete in the main event, where Punk was crowned the new World Heavyweight Champion. However, his celebrations lasted only minutes, as Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to beat Punk and become the champion.

On Night 2, Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena to become the Undisputed WWE Champion in an almost 40-minute battle. After being a heel for the majority of the year, Cena had reverted to his babyface persona just days ago.

Following his defeat, just as Cena was done saying his thank yous to the live crowd, Brock Lesnar made his first appearance in the company after two years and hit the 17-time champion with an F5.

WWE Unveils SummerSlam 2026 Poster

Three months before the 2026 SummerSlam, WWE unveiled the PLE’s first poster.

Taking to X, the wrestling company’s official account shared a poster, which comprised several top superstars, old and new.

The names featured on the graphic are those of Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Trick Williams, Liv Morgan, Seth Rollins, Oba Femi, Becky Lynch, CM Punk, Rhea Ripley, and Penta.

The account also announced that combo tickets for SummerSlam are on sale and can be purchased by visiting the following link: bit.ly/3QRZHKI

Triple H & Co. would also be hoping to get back the services of Brock Lesnar, who shockingly retired after his loss to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42, considering SummerSlam takes place in his hometown.

A report shared during a WrestleVotes Radio episode detailed what the company intends to do with Brock Lesnar with SummerSlam in sight.

There is a strong belief within WWE that Brock Lesnar was genuinely saying goodbye when he left his boots and gloves in the ring this past Sunday at WrestleMania. With those we spoke to believing Lesnar is ready to call it a career.

However, many also feel that before it’s all said and done, he will have one final match at this year’s SummerSlam. Lesnar, who attended the University of Minnesota and has been billed from Minneapolis, Minnesota throughout his entire WWE career, has only wrestled two televised matches in the state, with the last taking place in January of 2004. One contact told us the company is more than hopeful he will be on the card come August 1st and 2nd at U.S. Bank Stadium downtown Minneapolis.
