2 Popular Ex-WWE Stars Ruled Out Of Surprise Royal Rumble Return

There will be surprises in the WWE Royal Rumble, but they apparently won’t be this beloved tag team.

The most anticipated night in the WWE calendar is creeping ever closer with the Royal Rumble taking place on January 31st. For the first time ever, the event takes place in Saudi Arabia.

In addition to the men’s and women’s Rumble matches, AJ Styles puts his career on the line against Gunther while Drew McIntyre defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against Sami Zayn.

Triple H has already promised that there will be plenty of surprises at the Royal Rumble, with fans expecting the unexpected in the two Rumble matches.

Brock Lesnar is the latest male star to declare for the Rumble, with over half the field now known for that match. 17 women have declared for the Rumble as well, leaving plenty of room for faces from the past or complete bolts from the blue to make their presence felt.

No Royal Rumble Return For Ex-WWE Champions

However, it seems a pair of former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions might not be making their return at the Rumble.

The IInspiration’s Cassie Lee and Jessy McKay recently called time on their second stint in TNA, leaving the possibility open of them returning to WWE, where they were known as The IIconics. Fightful Select has reported, however, that despite leaving TNA, neither Lee nor McKay are planned for the Royal Rumble. It was noted that there has been plenty of interest in the pair since they left TNA, so they might not be away from the ring for too long.
