Mick Foley On WWE Creative – “WWE, We’ve Got A Problem”

It’s an interesting time in the pro wrestling business and now WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has chimed in with some criticisms of the WWE creative team.

Foley posted a video on his Facebook page partly because so many former WWE stars have left the company recently. This past Sunday at AEW All Out, we saw the AEW debuts of Bryan Danielson (former Daniel Bryan in WWE), Adam Cole and Ruby Soho, who used to be Ruby Riott. In addition to that, former WWE Champion CM Punk debuted in AEW last month to a huge reaction from the crowd.

In addition to those names, AEW also signed a WWE legend in Christian Cage, Malakai Black (former Aleister Black in WWE) and Andrade El Idolo, who is engaged to WWE’s Charlotte Flair. There have been rumors that former WWE/Universal Champion Bray Wyatt could be AEW bound after he was released by WWE earlier this year.

Some of the above names were released by WWE while others were free agents that could choose where they wanted to go and they opted to go to AEW instead of WWE.

Foley’s Facebook video is titled “WWE We’ve Got A Problem,” which tells the viewer right away what’s coming. Foley spoke about how if he was an active wrestler, he’s not sure he would trust WWE’s creative team right now.

“I’d like to title this video, ‘WWE we’ve got a problem’ because I think you do. That problem is that WWE is no longer THE place for talent to aspire to. Part of it is because AEW is doing a great job of attracting great talent, proven talent, building other talent, creating storylines. But part of it is a problem of your own making. I think younger talent sees the way that developmental characters are cut, or left by the wayside, or in the case of Karrion Kross, greatly watered down and even made a joke of when they debut on the main roster. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. If I was an aspiring talent now, big-league talent with a major decision to make, I’m not sure that I would trust WWE creative to do the right thing with my career.

You guys did wonders with me back in the day, but that was a different time, different place. If it was today, I’m not sure that I would trust the powers that be with my career in their hands. And until that changes, WWE you’ve got a problem.”

Here’s the video.

Following the AEW All Out pay-per-view on Sunday that received a lot of praise from wrestling media and fans, Foley praised AEW for the “incredible roster” that they have right now.

Foley debuted in WWE as the unique character known as Mankind. Foley also wrestled as Dude Love, Cactus Jack and even used his real name for matches well. Foley went onto win the WWE Title three times and was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
