WWE Title Rematch: Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles Announced For Extreme Rules On May 22

TJR Wrestling

Roman Reigns retained his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against challenger AJ Styles at last night’s Payback pay-per-view event. Although Reigns held on to his title and won the match, he did so in controversial fashion. There were several false finishes, McMahon involvement, and interference by The Usos as well as Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

At the end of Payback, Shane and Stephanie agreed that Styles will get another chance against Reigns. This time it will be at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view in an Extreme Rules match. Extreme Rules takes place in just under three weeks (May 22) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Mark’s reaction: Although I expected more from last night in regards to a heel turn or a Finn Balor debut, I enjoyed the Reigns vs. Styles match; even with the false finishes. Having a rematch between these two makes sense as a lot can be said about who really won last night. You can also pretty much guarantee that there will be more outside interference due to the nature of an Extreme Rules match. Could Extreme Rules be the night we see a heel turn or Balor debut? There needs to be some sort of payoff to this “what side is AJ on” storyline, so I expect something big to happen.
