There was a big announcement late Thursday afternoon and it was made by WWE’s Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, who tweeted that Roman Reigns would be returning to WWE’s Monday Night Raw on Monday in Atlanta.

The last time Reigns was on Raw was October 22nd when he told the world that the leukemia disease (a form of cancer) that he once beat, was back in his body and he had to go home to fight it and beat it again. It was a very courageous speech that shocked us all because most people had no idea that Reigns had leukemia in his life. Reigns was the Universal Champion at the time, he relinquished the title and hasn’t been on WWE programming since then.

In the months that followed, there have been encouraging from some of his friends like Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho and other that mentioned he was doing well, but they didn’t really have any specifics to share.

Last month, The Rock announced via Instagram that his cousin Reigns was going to play Rock’s brother in the Hobbs & Shaw movie that Rock was filming at the time. It will be Reigns’ first movie role. The movie will be released later this year.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Reigns would appear on the Nickelodeon show “Cousins for Life” as well. Reigns is married with a daughter and twin sons, so we’re guessing his family was happy to see him on a Nickelodeon show.

The fact that Reigns was able to film roles in a movie and a TV show is a good sign because it showed that even though he has been dealing with leukemia, he is remaining active and appears to be in great shape as usual.

Reigns will also be a guest on Good Morning America on February 26.

After the news spread on social media that Reigns was returning, a lot of WWE superstars chimed in with words of encouragement for their friend. Here are some of those tweets.

WWE has also advertised Ric Flair’s 70th birthday celebration for Monday night in Atlanta where he lives, which could lead to some fun moments.

TJR Thoughts: I’m happy Roman will be back “home” in a WWE ring. I don’t know what he’s going to say after being away for the past four months, but here’s hoping it’s good news. While nobody really knows for sure, there were definitely whispers in the wrestling business that they found the leukemia early and that it is treatable, so if that’s the case, maybe we can expect him to say something about a possible return in the near future.

What really matters is for Roman to get as healthy as possible to live a strong life for his wife and three children. If he can wrestle again then that’s great and it’s something he’ll continue to do because we know he loves it. Some of the fans may not always love the guy, but I don’t think anybody should ever question his worth ethic.

I look forward to seeing the “Big Dog” back in the “yard” on Raw.
