Why Rival President Is Envious Of WWE

WWE Triple H

A WWE rival is envious of how the company can operate.

Back in December 2023, Hiroshi Tanahashi was appointed NJPW President in a shock move, taking over from Takami Ohbari and Michiaki Nishizawa.

Much of Tanahashi’s tenure to date has been a period of transition for the company, with Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, Jay White, and Tama Tonga all leaving in the months before or shortly after his appointment.

In a new interview with Pivot Talk, Tanahashi addressed how NJPW is able to develop talent compared to the likes of WWE. The veteran said he was envious of WWE and the way they are able to operate.

“I guess one thing that is helpful is that it’s open to both men and women, regardless of age.

Also, the speed at which star wrestlers keep coming out, the speed of this turnover.

This is again, a little bit different from the way it is done with Japanese promotions. Well, I do feel envious of that.”

WWE Has “Working Relationship” With New Promotion

The comments from Hiroshi Tanahashi come after it was reported that WWE has a working relationship with new promotion Marigold. The company is headed up by former STARDOM boss Rossy Ogawa and will hold its first event on May 20th.

While there’s no word on exactly how the relationship will work, reports have confirmed that an agreement does exist.
