WWE Reaches “Working Agreement” With New Promotion

Triple H WWE Raw

Triple H and WWE have entered an interesting new agreement.

On April 15th, Rossy Ogawa announced the launch of Dream Star Fighting Marigold. The former STARDOM boss launched the new project alongside WWE’s latest signing Giulia. This continued speculation that the two sides could work together in the future, and it seems that will be the case.

Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer said a “working agreement” between the two companies has been finalised.

Rossy Ogawa’s new promotion, called Dream Star Fighting Marigold, although it will basically be called Marigold, had its opening press conference on 4/15 and there is a working agreement between the promotion and WWE.

Marigold’s first show will be held in Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on May 20th, with Giulia teaming with an unnamed partner to take on Sareee and a mystery partner. Meanwhile, there’s speculation that Kairi Sane and IYO SKY could make special appearances with the new promotion.

During the day and in the media, the names Kairi and Io Shirai from WWE were brought up. Whether the relationship was formalized or not is unclear, but it exists, and that’s what Paul Levesque and Ogawa were there to work out last week.

It’s been reported that Giulia will make her in-ring WWE debut on July 7th at NXT Heatwave.

WWE Stars Less Likely To Join AEW

Elsewhere in the newsletter, Meltzer noted that there’s a belief that WWE talent is less likely to leave to join AEW.

The comments came after it was reiterated that while Drew McIntyre is yet to sign a new WWE contract, he’s expected to stay with the company. Meanwhile, the likes of Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, and Natalya could all become free agents in the coming months.

There have also been suggestions that Hook could be moving in the opposite direction. The popular star is said to be open to exploring his options in free agency when his AEW deal expires later in 2024.
