WWE News on The Undertaker’s Recent Surgery

TJR Wrestling

Over the last week, there were photos shared of The Undertaker with him holding crutches. We haven’t seen him in a WWE ring since WrestleMania back in April, so most of us had no idea what was wrong with the WWE legend.

The good news is the crutches aren’t a permanent thing. He has been using them because he had a recent hip surgery, according to a report on PWInsider.

Former WWE referee and producer Tim White tweeted about saying that the hip surgery was confirmed by Undertaker’s wife Michelle McCool.

Here’s the aforementioned week old photo of Undertaker using crutches that caused people to freak out.

There’s no word yet as to when he had the surgery or how long he might need the crutches, but it’s obvious that the wear of tear of being in a wrestling ring for nearly 30 years does take a toll on a guy’s body.

TJR Thoughts: I think some fans online overreact to things like this because we don’t get updates on The Undertaker very often. He’s not the type of guy to post gym selfies like 80% of the people in the wrestling business. The reality is that he’s 51 years old and he may never have another match again.

I think he’ll do one more WrestleMania so that he can be on that big stage one more time in a match against John Cena, who he hasn’t faced in a major match in a very long time. That was going to be the match at WrestleMania 32 this year, but Cena was injured, so Vince called on his son Shane to put Undertaker over. I think both guys would be interested in doing it and if Undertaker is in good enough health, he’ll probably find it to be a WrestleMania worthy match.

He doesn’t owe us one more match, but if he wants to do it then I hope he’s in the best shape possible and that it exceeds expectations like he has done so many times before. I wish him the best in his recovery.
