The John Report: WWE Raw Deal 05/18/26 Review
It’s WWE Monday Night Raw featuring more Roman Reigns-Jacob Fatu drama, Brie & Paige facing The Judgment Day’s Raquel & Roxanne, and more.
The next Saturday Night’s Main Event special is this Saturday night, and then on Sunday, May 31, it’s Clash in Italy, so there are some big matches for WWE to promote in the weeks ahead.
This is the Raw Deal for episode #1721 of Monday Night Raw, taking place at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. Follow me on Twitter/X @johnreport. Let’s get to it.
A video aired recapping last week on Raw when Jacob Fatu beat up Roman Reigns instead of acknowledging the “Tribal Chief” Reigns. Fatu hit a running hip attack that put Reigns and both Usos through the barricade at ringside. That’s how Raw ended last week.
Roman Reigns was shown arriving in a car when Raw GM Adam Pearce said that Reigns should have listened to him last week. Reigns said he needs to call Jacob Fatu out right now. Pearce said he needs to be fired. Jacob’s music hit to start the show.
Let’s Hear from Jacob Fatu
Jacob Fatu entered the ring for the show opening promo, and he was cheered by most of the crowd. There were loud “Fatu” chants for him. Fatu called out Reigns to bring his punk ass out here right now.
The Usos answered the call out instead. The Usos, whose real last names are also Fatu, walked out looking ready to fight. Jimmy Uso tried to calm Jey Uso down since Jey had a chair. Jimmy said that giving your family a better life was by acknowledging the Tribal Chief. Jimmy said Fatu lost at Backlash and then he put his hands on management, so WWE is going to fire Fatu. Jimmy tried to advise Fatu about giving his family a better life. Jey tried to attack, but Fatu knocked him down. Fatu put the Tongan Death Grip on Jimmy. Jey hit Fatu in the back with a steel chair, Fatu no sold it and Fatu put the Tongan Death Grip on Jey to put him down.
Roman Reigns, the World Heavyweight Champion, made his entrance after his music played. The fans chanted “OTC” for the “Original Tribal Chief” Reigns as he got into the ring.
Reigns and Fatu exchanged punches. Reigns hit a boot to the face. Reigns set up for a Superman Punch, but Fatu caught Reigns with the Tongan Death Grip. Jey superkicked Fatu twice and hit a Spear. Jimmy jumped off the top and hit an Uso Splash. The Usos hit 1D on Fatu. After Fatu stumbled back to his feet, The Usos tied Fatu in the ropes, so Reigns hit a Superman Punch. The Usos hit a double superkick on Fatu, and Reigns hit another Superman Punch. The Usos connected with another double superkick. Fatu was let out of the ropes, and Reigns hit a Spear on Fatu. The fans chanted “OTC” for Reigns as he left with The Usos.
Roman Reigns told Raw GM Adam Pearce he can do whatever he wants, and said he can fire his ass. Fatu got a microphone and shouted: “Tribal Combat.” Pearce said to Reigns that you don’t need that. Reigns: “I accept.” Reigns held up the World Heavyweight Title while Fatu was selling in the ring. Michael Cole speculated that the match would be at Clash in Italy.
Analysis: I have enjoyed this feud, and I don’t mind that the story continued after Backlash. Fatu has looked like a badass who is tough to put down because he took a lot of punishment and kept getting up. It took three men to put Fatu down, and even after Fatu was down on the mat, he still found a way to get back up and issue a Tribal Combat challenge. It’s easy to like Fatu because he’s got that badass mentality and that never-say-die attitude. Reigns isn’t a heel like he was in the past, so it’s a matchup of two babyfaces, but I think the story still works.
The commentary team of Michael Cole and Corey Graves talked about the Tribal Combat Matches. Reigns is 2-0 in those matches, and the loser has to acknowledge the winner as the Tribal Chief. Alicia Taylor was the ring announcer.
There was superstar walking shown from earlier in the day showing Seth Rollins, Oba Femi and The Judgment Day.
A video aired about Finn Balor facing JD McDonagh. They featured comments from both guys talking about their friendship. JD said he’ll step out of Finn’s shadow. Finn said he got JD into this business, and he’ll take JD out of it.
Finn Balor made his entrance for the Street Fight opening match. They went on a break for some fans as Balor continued his entrance. JD McDonagh’s entrance was next.
The fact of the night let us know that Je’Von Evans was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. (Update: He wasn’t even on Raw this week.)
Street Fight: Finn Balor vs. JD McDonagh
The action spilled to the floor quickly as Balor sent JD into the steel steps. Balor tossed some kendo sticks and chairs into the ring. JD got hold of a kendo stick and hit Balor in the back and ribs a few times. Balor got a kendo stick that he used to hit JD a few times. JD hit a legsweep. Balor sent JD into a chair that was in the ring. Balor pulled out a table from under the ring and the fans popped for that. As Balor grabbed the table, JD hit a suicide dive onto Balor on the floor. They went fighting into the crowd as Balor sent JD into an equipment case. JD sent Balor into the equipment case two times. JD climbed onto some equipment by the crowd and hit a moonsault onto a standing Balor. That was cool. They went on a break for some fans as the match continued. JD brought Balor back to the ringside area. JD rammed Balor’s face (more like forearms) into the commentary table. Balor tripped up JD on the commentary table and Balor hit JD with the kendo stick in the ribs a few times. Balor put a table into the ring. JD wrapped a camera cable around Balor’s left foot and tripped up Balor on the apron. JD set up the Slim Jim table against the turnbuckle while there was a Slim Jim logo in the ring. Snap into it.
Balor took control with a reverse DDT, along with some chair shots to the back. JD avoided a move and hit a uranage onto the chair, followed by a standing moonsault for two. Cole said, “What a maneuver,” as if it were 1989 Vince McMahon on commentary. The fans chanted, “This is awesome” as Balor hit a Slingblade. Balor hit a running dropkick and JD did a great bump through the table. Balor went up top, jumped with a Coup de Grace foot attack, but JD got out of it. JD hit a jumping knee and a Powerbomb for a two count. JD went up top and hit a top rope moonsault for a two count. JD set up a table in the ring. JD punched Balor, went up top and Balor tripped up JD. Balor put JD on the table and punched JD a few times. Balor went up top, but Dominik Mysterio arrived to grab Balor. JD was backup with an eye rake and JD hit a superplex through the table for the one…two…and no because Balor got the right shoulder up. Dom tossed two trash cans into the ring. Dom hit Balor with a trash can, and JD hit Balor with the trash can two times in a row. Balor held JD against the ropes so Dominik hit a 619 on JD by accident. JD hit Dom with a trash can. Balor dropkicked JD (with a trash can on his head) into the turnbuckle. Balor went up top with a Coup de Grace (double foot stomp) on JD with the trash can on JD’s upper body and Balor covered for the pinfall win. It went about 14 minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Finn Balor
Analysis: ***3/4 I thought it was a great match that was full of action, and they wrestled at a fast pace. They also came up with some creative spots throughout the match. Balor winning was the obvious result here since he’s been pushed more. With that said, JD hitting that superplex through the table for a two count was a great nearfall spot. I liked the creativity of the finish with Balor knocking Dominik out of the ring, and Balor hit some big moves, followed by his finisher for the win. I enjoyed that.
A clip was shown of The Street Profits and Joe Hendry beating The Vision in a 6-man tag. Seth Rollins got involved with Bron Breakker, so Montez Ford argued with Seth Rollins about it.
Seth Rollins was interviewed by Cathy Kelley, who talked about Seth’s issues. Rollins said he knows he’s a marked man with zero allies. Rollins said that sooner rather than later, he has to put an end to The Vision. Rollins said that sometimes the easiest way out of a situation is to run right through it. Rollins said he hasn’t had a match on Raw in 9 months, so we should change that tonight. Rollins said Adam Pearce is giving him the main event tonight against any member of The Vision. Rollins called out Bron Breakker while wondering if he’s a nepo baby, an athlete, or if he’s everything he says he is. Rollins wanted Breakker to show him who he really is.
Analysis: It’s a big match for later with Rollins back in action on Raw. Nice promo by Seth.
Oba Femi’s open challenge is coming up.
There was an NXT Origins video about Rhea Ripley. This has been shown before. It’s well done.
Sol Ruca was interviewed backstage by Byron Saxton, who mentioned Sol’s two incredible matches on Raw so far. Ruca said she has been stoked to wrestle some of the best and she knows she hasn’t won yet, but she’s put the locker room on notice. Becky Lynch interrupted with the Women’s IC Title and trashed Ruca for not winning her first two matches. Lynch told Ruca she should get going, so Ruca left. Lynch said this generation gives up so easily and Sol’s music played.
Let’s Hear from Sol Ruca and Becky Lynch
Sol Ruca mentioned Becky Lynch is watching this, so she wanted Lynch to come out there and talk. Lynch made her entrance with the Women’s IC Title.
Ruca said she’s damn good at proving people wrong. Ruca wanted a match against Lynch right here and right now without either woman in their ring gear. Lynch said no. Lynch said she’d love nothing more than to perform for the people of Greensboro and did her routine about being the greatest of all time. Lynch said she prides herself on being a locker room leader and a mentor to the youth of today. Lynch trashed Lyra Valkyria, Maxxine Dupree and AJ Lee fighting her and they lost. Lynch said that if Ruca believes she is ready, then Lynch will face Ruca at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Ruca said she knows what Lynch is doing. Ruca said she’ll snatch her soul and snatch that title. Lynch said she never said she’s putting the title on the line. Lynch ended it saying, “Welcome to the big time.”
Analysis: I think they could have set this match up better by giving Ruca a win to set up the match with Lynch. Instead, Ruca is 0-2 and getting a shot at the Women’s IC Champion. I want people to earn their title shots. Anyway, if it is non-title, then Ruca winning is possible.
A video aired about Club WWE.
The Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory spoke with Paul Heyman. Theory wondered what the plan was against The Street Profits at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Bron Breakker walked in, saying he wanted the match with Rollins. Heyman said he wanted it to be Theory. Bron asked Logan and Austin to leave the room. Heyman advised Bron will know where Seth will be and Heyman told Bron he gets to run the play. Bron smiled and left.
The Original El Grande Americano made his entrance with his buddies, The Creed Brothers (Julio & Bruto), in their masks. El Grande Americano made his entrance with Rayo and Bravo.
Trios Tornado Match: El Grande Americano, Rayo & Bravo vs. Original El Grande Americano, Julio & Bruto
I missed a few minutes at the start of the match. Anything goes in a tornado tag. Julio (Julius Creed) hit an impressive vertical suplex on Rayo (Pete Dunne). They went up top and Rayo hit a Sunset Flip Bomb for a two count because Bruto (Brutus Creed) broke up the pin. Bravo (Tyler Bate) missed an attack and Bruto hit a double underhook sitout slam. El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) hit a palm strike on Bruto. Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) stopped Grande from doing a move.
The Original got some offense going with a suplex and a reverse Angle Slam. Original hit a German Suplex on Rayo while Bravo was on his back. Original suplexed Grande into the turnbuckle for two because Bravo broke up the pin. Julio hit a superplex, Bruto hit a moonsault (great job, Rayo rolling into position), and then Original hit a headbutt off the top for a two count because Rayo broke up the pin. Grande hit a dropkick to clear the ring. All three members of Los Americanos had metal pieces in their masks. Original avoided headbutts. Original and the Credos all hit German Suplexes. Gable, Julio and Bruto all went up top and hit moonsaults for two count. Original hit a double clothesline off the top and a Liger Kick on Grande. Grande threw an entrance cape at Original and tossed him over the barricade. Rayo and Bravo hit a double team move with a hurricanrana and a splash. Grande hit a metal plate headbutt on Bruto for the pinfall win. It went about 12 minutes.
Winners by pinfall: El Grande Americano, Rayo & Bravo
Analysis: ***1/4 It was an entertaining match as this feud continues. The fans don’t really know who to cheer for because in America, they are both heel groups, but in Mexico, they love El Grande Americano, so it’s easier to book their segments because the crowd reactions are what WWE wants. Anyway, they worked hard, had some entertaining spots, and I liked the match. The ending was creative with El Grande Americano using the dreaded metal mask to put Bruto down to get the win.
Paige and Brie Bella were backstage getting ready. The Whataburger mascot was there with some Doordash delivery for Otis and Akira Tozawa, so Cole plugged the sponsor.
Let’s Hear from Joe Hendry
Joe Hendry was in the ring with his guitar and a microphone. This was during a break for some fans. Joe doesn’t think Austin Theory can beat Seth Rollins. Joe wrote Theory a song that might motivate him. Joe sang a song about how he had a theory that Austin sucks. Joe did his “Paul, Paul, can we fire Logan Paul?” lyrics, so the fans joined in.
Analysis: Joe does a nice job with those songs. They are catchy.
A clip aired of Roman Reigns and The Usos beating up Jacob Fatu earlier in the show. Fatu challenged Reigns to Tibal Combat and Reigns accepted.
The graphic was shown for Clash in Italy: Tribal Combat for the World Heavyweight Championship – Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu.
There was a video about Tribal Combat matches. There are no rules and you win by pinfall or submission. The winner becomes the Tribal Chief.
The Usos was interviewed by Cathy Kelly with Jey Uso saying he knows all about it because he’s been in it. LA Knight interrupted after being away for a few weeks. Jimmy Uso said not now. Knight said not too long ago it was the three of them against The Vision and now they are doing the same thing. Knight said he has to do what he has to do. Knight said if you do dirt then you get dirt. Jimmy said not now and left with Jey.
Analysis: It’s good to see LA Knight back after getting the last month off. I hope there’s a storyline for him soon.
Ethan Page Interview
There was a sitdown interview by Michael Cole interviewing Ethan Page. Page handed Cole a card to read for the interview. The card was all about complimenting Page, so Cole read that Page wants to rename the Intercontinental Title the Ethan Page Championship. Page said he was meant to be a champion, while others have to work hard for it, like Penta. Cole asked Page why does he act like this? Page said he didn’t understand the question. Cole said that Page has the look, the charisma, and the ability, but he also has an ego. Cole said that ego will cost Page the IC Title. Page said he believes he’s already the best wrestler in all of WWE and he’ll prove it to everybody. Page was confident that he would take the IC Title from Penta at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Analysis: It was a fun way to show off Page’s personality as a cocky heel. Page is one of my favorite performers in WWE, and it helps that he’s a fellow Canadian.
The Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez made their entrance with Liv Morgan. They went to a break for some fans, so they showed a video of Paige and Brie Bella winning the Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania last month.
Women’s Tag Team Championships: Paige & Brie Bella vs. The Judgment Day – Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez (w/Liv Morgan)
It was Raquel in control of Brie early on. Perez slapped Brie and did a “Yes” chant to mock Brie’s husband, Daniel Bryan. Brie got an armbar takedown. Brie hit a running knee on Perez. Brie and Paige took turns hitting knees and kicks. Raquel clotheslined Brie. Paige kicked Raquel out of the ring. Paige tried to jump on Raquel, but Raquel swung Paige into the barricade and ring apron. They went on a break for some fans there and I’ll take a break too.
The J-Day ladies were isolating Paige in their corner. Paige tried to break free, but Raquel stopped that. Paige managed to break free and bring in Brie with a running dropkick, along with a neckbreaker. Brie hit a neckbreaker on Raquel as Perez took a bump as well, so Brie covered for two. Brie went up top and hit a missile dropkick. It wasn’t a great one, but Perez sold it. Morgan distracted the referee, so Raquel hit a clothesline. Paige and Brie hit a double team Powerbomb on Raquel. Perez tripped Brie into the ropes and hit a running uppercut on Brie. Perez went for a moonsault, but Brie got the knees up. Brie went up top, Liv shoved Brie down and referee Jessika Carr realized it was Liv getting involved, so the referee ejected Liv from ringside. Perez tried a belt shot on Brie, who avoided it and Brie got a ROLLUP OF DEATH~! on Perez for the pinfall win. It went about 11 minutes.
Winners by pinfall: Paige & Brie Bella
Analysis: *** A solid match to set up the ROLLUP OF DEATH~! finish that is so deadly that all it does is win matches. I didn’t expect a title change, even though I like Raquel and Roxanne as a team.
After the match, The Judgment Day trio beat up Paige and Brie Bella. Bayley and Lyra Valkyria made the save to clear the ring.
Seth Rollins was standing around backstage when LA Knight confronted him. Knight said he knows what’s going to happen since he took a lot of beatings when The Vision beat up Knight. LA said Rollins isn’t going to need help, but he isn’t going to help from Knight. Knight left with his luggage.
Oba Femi was shown walking backstage. A video aired about Oba Femi.
El Grande Americano and Los Americanos by the entrance. This was during a break for some fans. Grande said in a few weeks, we’ll find out who the only El Grande Americano really is.
Penta was featured in a video where he spoke in Spanish about how he’s going to beat Ethan Page at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Penta told Page to get ready for war.
The fans treated Oba Femi’s entrance like a big deal as they chanted his name while his music played.
Brock Lesnar Attacks Oba Femi
As Femi was finishing his entrance, Brock Lesnar attacked Femi from behind. The lights came on, and Lesnar hit Femi with an F5. Lesnar hit a second F5 after that. The fans were shocked by it. Lesnar hit a third F5 on Femi. The fans chanted, “Holy Shit” as Lesnar hit a fourth F5.
Analysis: Great surprise! I did not see that coming. Many of us thought that Brock Lesnar retired at WrestleMania when he left his gloves and boots in the ring to retire, but the plan obviously changed. I certainly don’t mind it because the Lesnar-Femi feud was super hot going into WrestleMania, and Femi is treated like a massive star, so Lesnar deserves a lot of credit for that.
Byron Saxton was shown talking about the Oba Femi-Brock Lesnar situation, and this was during a break. Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez showed up to complain about Bayley & Lyra Valkyria for sticking their nose in their business. Liv Morgan was with them, so Liv said she is still the Women’s World Champion. The fans booed her. Liv said she was the greatest Women’s World Champion of all time.
Raw GM Adam Pearce was backstage talking to WWE Officials like Shane Helms and referees. Pearce said he filed retirement paperwork on Brock Lesnar’s behalf. Paul Heyman was in Pearce’s office. Heyman said that Lesnar was retired. Heyman had a contract with Brock Lesnar’s name on it for a match at Clash In Italy. Heyman said if you get Femi to sign it then you’ve got the biggest rematch ever.
Analysis: That’s a huge match at Clash in Italy, obviously. Femi facing Lesnar again is going to be awesome.
The announcers did a rundown of the Saturday Night’s Main Event card for this Saturday.
* Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Ethan Page
* Women’s Tag Team Championships: Brie Bella & Paige vs. Irresistible Forces – Nia Jax & Lash Legend
* Sol Ruca vs. Becky Lynch
* Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab
* WWE World Tag Team Championships: The Vision’s Logan Paul & Austin Theory (c) vs. The Street Profits – Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins
The Street Profits were interviewed by Cathy Kelley. Angelo Dawkins said they were going to be ready. Montez Ford said they aren’t new to this. Ford said they will be the new World Tag Team Titles and they want the smoke. Dawkins went up to Seth Rollins to talk about what happened. Dawkins smoothed things over about last week, saying thanks for looking out last week. Rollins said he knows he had no friends and no allies. Rollins thanked Dawkins for understanding what Rollins did last week and he’s sorry for what happened. Rollins said he had a match right now and thanked Dawkins.
Seth Rollins made his entrance for the main event with the fans singing his song as usual. Austin Theory’s entrance took place during a break.
Austin Theory (w/Logan Paul) vs. Seth Rollins
Rollins attacked Theory with a suicide dive on the floor. They went back into the ring and Rollins kicked Theory in the head a few times. Rollins clotheslined Theory over the top to the floor. Rollins went for The Stomp on the floor, Rollins countered Theory by sending him into the steel steps. Rollins chopped Theory several times. Theory did a necksnap across the top rope. Rollins countered Theory and hit a Buckle Bomb into the turnbuckle. Rollins hit a running kick on Theory to knock him down. Theory blocked a kick and sent Seth’s right foot into the ring post. Theory was in control with a forearm to the jaw. They went on a break for some fans, with Theory remaining on offense for a few minutes.
Theory was in control with a suplex. Rollins countered a Theory move with a Falcon Arrow sitout slam. Rollins sent Theory to the apron, Theory jumped back in the ring and Rollins hit a sitout Powerbomb for two. Theory hit a back elbow and a spinning sitout slam for a two count. Theory turned it into a half crab submission. When Theory let go, he hit a superkick to knock Rollins down. Theory went for The Stomp, but Rollins was back up with a clothesline. Rollins went to the middle turnbuckle, Theory hid behind the referee so Paul shoved Rollins down. Theory hit The Stomp for a two count. Paul gave Theory the brass knuckles while the referee was looking at Rollins. Paul distracted the referee, leading to Rollins hitting a superkick and Rollins had the brass knuckles. The referee took them away from Rollins and Rollins punched Paul on the apron. Theory got a rollup for two. Rollins hit a Pedigree for the pinfall win after about 13 minutes.
Winner by pinfall: Seth Rollins
Analysis: ***1/4 A good TV main event to give Rollins a win after losing at Backlash. Theory obviously had no shot here. I don’t mind Rollins winning with a Pedigree because it’s a big move that is believable as a finisher.
After the match, Logan Paul and Austin Theory beat up Seth Rollins. Angelo Dawkins made the save. Montez Ford ran out there to save his tag team partner. Ford punched Theory out of the ring and Ford hit a jumping hook kick. Ford hit a somersault dive over the top onto two guys on the floor. Ford asked Dawkins why are you here? Ford said everything around Seth doesn’t end well. Bron Breakker went into the ring and hit a Spear on Ford. Bron hit a slam on Dawkins on the knee. Rollins hit Breakker with a lariat. Paul held onto Seth’s leg, so Bron was back up and hit a Spear on Rollins.
Bron Breakker picked up the steel steps at ringside and wanted to smash Rollins on the steel steps, but WWE Officials were there to break it up. Bron tackled Rollins on the floor and punched him a few times. The Vision left while Rollins was down at ringside, selling the attack. The Vision guys were shown by the entrance, and that was the end of the show.
Analysis: The numbers game came into play yet again with The Vision dominating Rollins, who had help from Dawkins and Ford, but then they got taken out too. Anyway, all of this is likely leading to another Breakker-Rollins match.
This week’s Raw had a runtime of 2:22 on Netflix. Last week was 2:24.

Final Thoughts on WWE Raw
Raw remains a consistently good show for the most part, with the Brock Lesnar return serving as a nice surprise that I didn’t think was going to happen. Enjoy another payday, Brock. There were good matches throughout the show, too. Easy to follow, and I enjoyed it.
