The John Report: WWE NXT 03/03/26 Review

This week’s WWE NXT features Jacy Jayne against Zaria, Jaida Parker in action against Blake Monroe, a performance from Ricky Saints, and more.

There were four title matches on last week’s NXT episode, and three title changes took place. Elio LeFleur won the Speed Championship, The Vanity Project won the NXT Tag Team Titles, and Myles Borne ended Ethan Page’s long reign as NXT North American Champion. Also, Zaria turned on Sol Ruca after months of tension between the best friends.

The NXT Vengeance Day PLE takes place this Saturday, March 7th. I’m not going to be home to review it live, but I should be back later that night and have the review done that evening.

They were at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando for this week’s show. Follow me on Twitter @johnreport and check out my NXT TV review archive. Let’s get to it.

A video package aired showing highlights of last week’s show featuring the three title changes.

Let’s Hear from Myles Borne

The new NXT North American Champion, Myles Borne, made his entrance in dress clothes, including a dress shirt and jacket, along with the title on his left shoulder. The fans chanted, “You deserve it” for Borne. Borne said it felt so good to hold this title and hear his name announced as the new champion. Borne said that you know what he’s been through and what he fights for. Borne said instead of standing there and thanking the fans for supporting him, he wants to thank his biggest hater, Ethan Page, for doubting him. Borne said that Page unleashed a demon inside of Borne, who said he won’t be a boy scout or angel. Borne held up the title: “Can you hear me now?” Good line by the man who is partially deaf.

Ethan Page walked out, saying all he heard was Borne thanking Page. Page said that you had to repay that favor. Page said last week, you got lucky. Page said he had a bad night, but he had a million great nights. Page bragged about his success and accomplishments. Page said he has carried NXT for the last two years. Borne said if you want a rematch, you got it. Page said he wants the rematch tonight.

Robert Stone, the interim NXT General Manager, walked out and said that since Page and Borne want this title match right now, let’s do it now. They were both in dress clothes. A referee went into the ring to start the match.

Analysis: I expected a rematch, but not to start the show and not in their dress clothes. That’s different. It’s also not as easy for wrestlers to compete in dress shoes compared to the shoes that they usually wear.

NXT North American Championship: Myles Borne vs. Ethan Page

Page was in control early on as he hit a boot to the head. Borne came back with a dropkick to send Page out of the ring. They were fighting on the commentary table with Borne punching Page a few times. They went on a break for some fans as the match continued. Page took control of the match as they continued wrestling in their dress clothes. Page hit a powerslam for a two count.

Page hit a Confidence Breaker with a knee to the face. Borne countered a powerslam. Borne was pulling Page’s shirt off and hit a dropkick. Page sent Borne throat-first into the ropes. Page took off Borne’s belt and wanted to use it. Page took his own belt off and used the belt buckle to punch Borne for a two count. The referee never saw the belt buckle usage. Page’s pants were mostly off, so he was in his shorts. Borne tripped up Page and applied the Ankle Lock. Page kicked Borne away, and Borne punched Page with one of his shoes, which the referee didn’t see. Borne hit a Borne Again (Zig Zag or jumping neckbreaker) for the pinfall win. It went about 8 minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Myles Borne

Analysis: *** It was a good match, but not at the level of their match last week. That match was also longer, so that’s a big reason it was better. This was a different kind of match since they were in dress clothes. I liked the nearfall with Page using the belt buckle punch for a two-count. Borne’s win was the right call, and he used the shoe as a weapon as payback for the belt buckle shot. I thought the rematch would happen at Vengeance Day. I feel like Page is due for a main roster call-up any time now, so maybe that’s why he lost here and why he’ll be on the main roster soon. A main roster call-up after WrestleMania makes sense, too.

Zaria was interviewed by Sarah Schreiber outside. Sarah asked why Zaria had attacked Sol Ruca last week, and Zaria dismissed that dumb question.

Darkstate was in the parking lot looking for Tony D’Angelo. Robert Stone was there with security, telling them they had to go inside. After they went inside, Tony D’Angelo drove up in a car and got a crowbar from the trunk.

Blake Monroe was shown walking backstage for a segment up next.

A commercial aired for WrestleMania 42 promoting CM Punk against Roman Reigns.

Let’s Hear from Blake Monroe…and Jaida Parker

Blake Monroe made her entrance for a promo. Blake discussed her issues with Jaida Parker, saying she has felt reassured while claiming Parker needs her. Blake said all Parker did was confirm her value. Blake said she is the conversation, the controversy, and the standard. Blake talked about how, when she competes, it trends every single time. Blake claimed that people obsess over her and love to hate her more than they love Jaida Parker. Blake said that Jaida can’t step up, so stepping to her is her only option because it’s the fastest way to matter. Blake claimed this division revolves around her. Blake claimed that Jaida is begging for a chance and for the spotlight. Blake said she’ll share her spotlight with Jaida at Vengeance Day and go through her to Stand & Deliver.

Jaida Parker interrupted the promo as fans chanted “Miss Parker” for her. Parker said she needed to slap the taste out of Blake’s mouth. She said she clocked Blake a long time ago and that the Glamour exists because insecurity does. Parker claimed she is the definition of relevance and doesn’t care what others think of her. She said Blake cares what people think of her. Parker said she’ll give Blake the ass-whooping she needs because Blake needs Parker. Blake said that at Vengeance Day, she’ll show Blake how soft she is. Parker told Blake to shut her soft ass up. Parker said Blake is scared and not who she thinks she is. She said that if you take away Blake’s belief that everybody wants to hate on the Glamour, all you have is a mediocre bitch. Blake punched Parker, but Parker fought back. Parker hit a running Hipnotic to knock Blake out of the ring.

Analysis: I like both women because they are good talkers with unique characters, and they know exactly who their characters are supposed to be. Blake is a cocky heel who is easy to hate (even though she’s obviously a very attractive woman), and Parker is such a confident babyface that she’s easy to like. It feels like a top contender’s match between them at Vengeance Day, and it could go either way. I want to see Parker win.

Ricky Saints was in the locker room talking to Ethan Page. The Vanity Project walked in to say they felt bad for Page. Page said it’s okay and that he needs time to think. Ricky told Jackson Drake to make sure he keeps that Evolve Title, and The Vanity Project left. Ricky cheered up Page, saying he was the greatest NXT North American Champion ever. Ricky said he knows Page will be champion again and that Ricky will be champion too. Ricky said the stage needs him, so he’s going to prep with some lemon tea. Ricky told Page to hang in there. Page said nothing.

Analysis: I know I mentioned Page going to the main roster, but maybe they are going to move him back into the NXT Title picture, and that’s why he lost to Borne again. Could happen.

It’s Wren Sinclair against Nikkita Lyons up next.

(Commercial)

The trio of Eli Knight, Sean Legacy, and Elio LeFleur spoke in the locker room about their recent matches. Elio had the Speed Title. Jasper Troy walked in, complaining about how he wants his Speed Title back. Knight said that the title is meant for faster guys like them. Josh Briggs was in there to tell Troy he’s not the best big man around here anymore since he lost that title. Troy challenged Legacy and Knight to a match next week for a shot at the Speed Title.

Women’s Speed Tournament Semifinals Match: Wren Sinclair (w/Kendal Grey) vs. Nikkita Lyons

This is a Speed Match with a 3-minute time limit. They each went for pinfalls early on. Wren hit a kick to the gut. Lyons knocked Wren down and hit a leg drop. Wren worked over Lyons with punches and a rollup. Lyons hit a suplex for a two count. Wren worked over Lyons with chops and a clothesline. Wren hit a running clothesline with 60 seconds left. Lyons went for a leg drop on the apron, but Wren moved. Wren dropkicked Lyons out of the ring. Back in the ring, Lyons hit a spin kick to the head for two. Wren flipped over and got a two count of her own. Wren avoided Lyons and hit a belly-to-back suplex. Lyons applied a submission on the arms called the Final Wrench, and Lyons tapped out at 2:55.

Winner by submission: Wren Sinclair

Analysis: **1/4 It was a match full of action with a lot of nearfalls. Good job by both women going for the win like that. Wren getting a win is nice to see, while Lyons isn’t being used much on NXT, but I still think she has a lot of potential. I’m happy Wren got the win.

The NXT Champion Joe Hendry talked to NXT North American Champion Myles Borne. Borne talked about how he liked Hendry’s story and where Hendry is now in his career. Hendry said that Borne’s journey has been unbelievable, too. Borne trashed Ricky Saints about to sing, then Joe said it would make him want to be deaf, then Joe apologized, and Borne did a Hendry pose to say it was okay. Borne left.

An Izzi Dame-Tatum Paxley face to face is next.

A commercial aired for the WWE 2K26 video game featuring the Monday Night War edition.

(Commercial)

Kelani Jordan was shown training for her Underground Match against Lola Vice. Jordan said she was learning from one of the best – it was the submission magician Shayna Baszler. Jordan worked out in the gym while Baszler said that Lola is no joke. The training session showed Jordan trying some submissions and wanting to do gymnastics, but Baszler told her it won’t work. The training continued from there. When they showed the announcers, they mentioned Lola is 3-0 in Underground Matches.

Analysis: It was a way to show Kelani Jordan is focused on her Underground Match and trying to change her style going into it. I think Lola will win.

Face to Face: Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley

Dame and Paxley were seated on chairs talking to eachother about their history while a dollhouse was there. Paxley was playing with the dolls. Dame mocked Paxley for talking to dolls because they won’t talk back to her. Dame said that Paxley is unlovable, and that’s what Dame was there for. Dame said that Paxley is a shell of herself without Dame, who said that Paxley is pathetic. Dame said there is no new version of Paxley. Paxley said she thought being NXT Champion was the best feeling, but nothing will top taking the NXT North American Championship from Dame at Vengeance Day. Paxley told Dame that she was never meant to be played with. Paxley handed Dame a blonde doll and left. Dame knocked over the dollhouse.

Analysis: It’s another women’s feud with well-defined characters since Dame is the controlling heel while Paxley is a likable face that wants to prove her doubters wrong. That has been a long feud, so it’s time to end it at Vengeance Day. I think Paxley should win the match, but I may pick Dame to retain. I’ll think about it more later in the week.

The team of Hank, Tank, and Shiloh Hill made their entrance, but they were attacked by The Vanity Project. The show went to a break for some fans as the guys fought on the floor. I’ll take a break as they continue fighting, and the match will begin soon.

Shiloh Hill, Hank Walker & Tank Ledger vs. The Vanity Project – Jackson Drake, Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes

The match started during the break as Drake splashed Tank against the turnbuckle. Tank punched Drake and Hank tagged in with a shoulder tackle. Hill tagged in for a double shoulder tackle on Drake. The Vanity Project took turns tagging in and working over Hill. Keanu Carver walked up to Booker T, telling him to tell his boy to keep Carver’s name out of his mouth. Vic wondered if he was talking about Jasper Troy. Hank and Tank did some comedy spots using their bellies. The babyface team of Hill, Hank and Tank hit body slams at the same time. Baylor got a hold of Hank’s foot, Smokes kicked Hank and Baylor stomped on Hank as the heels were in control again. Hank broke free from the TVP corner and Tank was on fire with slams, suplexes and a clothesline. Drake tagged in, but Tank hit him with a double clothesline. Hank was sent into the ring post. Tank cleared the ring of TVP and Drake distracted the referee, so Baylor and Smokes rammed the steel steps into Hank. Drake dropkicked Tank onto the steel steps. The match went on a break as the heels took control for a few minutes.

There was a long stretch where TVP worked over Tank, but then Hill got the hot tag. Hill hit a splash on two opponents at once, and Drake broke up the pin. Hill tossed Drake out of the ring. Smokes hit a Spear on Hill as the illegal man, and Baylor covered for two. Hank tagged in against Drake, who hit a jumping kick to the head. Drake hit a spinning slam off the shoulders for a two-count because Tank broke up the pin. Baylor hit a jumping knee. Hill jumped off the top with a clothesline on Baylor. Hank hit a Bossman Slam on Drake. Tank tagged in for a double-team belly splash. Hank & Tank hit suicide dives while Hill tagged in and hit a Spear on Drake. Hill hit a popup neckbreaker on Drake for the pinfall win. It went about 14 minutes.

Winners by pinfall: Shiloh Hill, Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

Analysis: ***1/4 That was a fun match full of action from the moment the bell rang. Hill pinning Drake might mean Hill is going for the Evolve Championship held by Drake, but he may lose that title to a guy named Cappuccino Jones. Anyway, I enjoy Hank & Tank matches since they work so well as a babyface team and the fans love them. Hill also fits in as a teammate of theirs because he’s a unique guy. The Vanity Project continues to impress every time I see them. Those guys are really good, considering they are in their early 20s. They have very bright futures, for sure.

Blake Monroe arrived at ringside in a different outfit, all black. Blake said that Jaida Parker brought the hell out of her and that this ends at Vengeance Day in a Street Fight. Jaida Parker went into the ring to fight, and Blake went after her. They were separated by the wrestlers from the previous match.

Analysis: A Street Fight stipulation sounds good to me. I still think Parker should win, but it’s a tough call.

Darkstate was in the backstage area, where Osiris Griffin was down, holding his arm and saying Tony D’Angelo attacked him. The rest of Darkstate was there. Robert Stone went up to them, and Dion Lennox said he’s calling out Tony now.

A commercial aired for the Backlash PLE on May 9th in Tampa.

(Commercial)

Lola Vice was shown talking to a doctor about her right-hand injury. The doctor said that there’s a risk that she could have a more serious injury. Vice said she is one of the most reliable women in WWE, and she has a lot of opportunities coming up. Vice said she won’t hurt her hand again. Vice said she is going to be part of Stand & Deliver. Vice said she signed paperwork clearing any doctors and NXT of any liability. The doctor told her to come back after her match, and she said she would.

Dion Lennox Calls Out Tony D’Angelo

Dion Lennox was in the ring and called out Tony D’Angelo for a fight. Tony D appeared in the back of the building with a crowbar. Tony said that you may have killed him last year, but he’s back as a different man now. He said Saturday is called Vengeance Day, and that’s fitting since he’s going to take out Darkstate. Lennox said that after Tony took the NXT Tag Team Titles from them and took out Osiris backstage, he’s going to get run over. Dion said he’s going to be NXT Champion and that the main event of Stand & Deliver has his name on it. He said that Darkstate’s takeover isn’t complete yet. Lennox said he’s going to wait for Tony in the parking lot, and it’s on sight. Tony said he’ll beat his ass in the parking lot, bring him to the ring, and beat him in front of everybody. He said that on Saturday, one of the two reasons he came back to NXT will be complete.

Analysis: It makes sense to have a Tony-Dion match at Vengeance Day. Good move. When Tony mentions his two reasons, I think those reasons are to beat Darkstate and then to become the NXT Champion, which Tony hasn’t done even though he’s been in NXT for over four years.

The NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne was with her Fatal Influence friends for an interview with Sarah Schreiber. Jayne was confident that Sol Ruca wouldn’t let Zaria have this title match. Jayne talked about beating Zaria, and then she’ll be on her way to Stand & Deliver.

Jacy Jayne made her entrance for singles action, joined by Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. Jayne’s title match is next.

(Commercial)

Myles Borne talked to Tavion Heights and Charlie Dempsey. Borne thanked them for being early in his career. After Borne left, Dempsey said they were spinning their wheels. Lexis King, Urijah Connors, Stacks, and Arianna Grace tried to get Charlie to join their group since they are the children of wrestlers (all but Stacks). Dempsey said nothing in response as the group left. Heights told Dempsey not to listen to that.

NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne (w/Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid) vs. Zaria

It’s a heel-heel matchup since Zaria turned heel last week. Jayne was looking around, thinking Sol Ruca would show up to cost Zaria, but there was no sign of her. Zaria sent Jayne into the turnbuckle and punched Jayne a few times. Jayne hit a headscissors. Zaria tried a power move, and Jayne countered it into a pin attempt. Zaria came back with a pump kick. Zaria hit a suplex and a delayed vertical suplex. Zaria clotheslined Jayne on the apron. Zaria choked Jayne on the apron. Henley distracted Zaria, so when Zaria charged, Reid pulled Jayne out of the way and Zaria hit the steel steps. Jayne hit a cannonball on Zaria against the turnbuckle. They went on a break as Jayne controlled the action for about three minutes.

They were battling by the turnbuckle when powerhouse Zaria hit a superplex from the middle turnbuckle. Zaria and Jayne exchanged strikes. Zaria hit a headbutt, knocking Jayne into the turnbuckle. Zaria hit a running back elbow splash. Zaria hit a belly-to-belly overhead suplex and a clothesline for two. Jayne jumped over Zaria, but Zaria was back up with a knee to the jaw. Zaria hit two German suplexes in a row. Zaria charged, and Jayne hit a knee smash for a two-count. Jayne went for a Rolling Encore, but Zaria avoided it and hit a Spear. Zaria went for a move, but Jayne avoided it and hit a Rolling Encore on Zaria. Sol Ruca went out to the ring and took out Henley and Reid on the floor. Ruca went into the ring and jumped off the ropes with a Soul Snatcher on Jayne and Zaria. That led to a DQ by the referee. It went 13 minutes.

Match Result: Double Disqualification

Analysis: ***1/4 Good match for the time given, with the predictable result of Sol Ruca costing Zaria the match. Sol Ruca is so mad that she waited 13 minutes into this match to attack Zaria and Jayne? I guess she wasn’t that mad about what Zaria did to her last week. This feels like it will set up a triple threat NXT Women’s Title match at Stand & Deliver next month. This finish protected Zaria by not having her take a pin, showing she was evenly matched with Jayne, which is why they are headed for a triple threat match.

After the match, Sol told Zaria that Zaria’s soul was hers and kissed Zaria on the forehead. Sol told Jayne she was coming for this title. Reid tried to attack Sol on the floor, Sol hit Reid with the title, or at least that was the idea. It was not a great looking title shot, but that was the intent.

Ricky Saints was shown walking backstage for his promo up next in the main event.

(Commercial)

Here’s the rundown of the NXT Vengeance Day card on Saturday, March 7th.

* Street Fight: Blake Monroe vs. Jaida Parker

* Women’s NXT North American Championship: Izzi Dame vs. Tatum Paxley

* Underground Match: Lola Vice vs. Kelani Jordan

* Tony D’Angelo vs. Dion Lennox

* NXT Championship: Joe Hendry vs. Ricky Saints

Analysis: It feels like a repetitive card with five singles matches. It’s good to see three women’s matches on the card. I just feel like they could use a sixth match that could be a tag or something else.

The NXT Interim General Manager, Robert Stone, was interviewed by Sarah Schreiber in his office. Stone said that at Vengeance Day, he’ll have a decision about the NXT Women’s Title situation.

Analysis: That will probably lead to the Jayne-Ruca-Zaria triple threat match being announced for Stand & Deliver.

The Absolute Experience With Ricky Saints

This was promoted as a “concert” by Ricky Saints, since Joe Hendry does those kinds of performances with his songs. Ricky walked out in an outfit that looked almost like silk pajamas. Ricky sat on a stool, hosting a once-in-a-lifetime performance. Ricky claimed he stole the show on the CW show Wildcards and that he’s a true thespian. Ricky talked about how he’s going to be a 2-time NXT Champion at Vengeance Day. The lights dimmed as a spotlight hit Ricky, who wasn’t much of a guitar player. The fans booed him. Ricky badly sang some songs and then sang “I believe in Ricky” as Booker sang along. Ricky told a jabroni stagehand to bring a chair into the ring rather than a stool. Ricky trashed Joe Hendry’s style and sang “I believe in Ricky” again. Ricky bragged about rhyming shirt and hurt. Ricky wanted a jabroni to fix the microphone. Ricky trashed Joe for looking like Guy Fieri, and Booker laughed about it. Ricky complained about the guitar, and a guy brought another guitar in. It was a guy with a mask, and it was revealed to be Joe Hendry. Hendry smashed a guitar into Ricky’s back. Hendry tried to do more damage, but The Vanity Project went out to the ring. Myles Borne ran out for the save and hit clotheslines on TVP and a dropkick. Hendry hit a fallaway slam. Hendry and Borne cleared TVP from the ring. Hendry tossed Ricky over the top to the floor onto TVP. Hendry and Borne held up their titles to end the show.

Analysis: This was not a great musical performance like when Joe Hendry does it. Obviously, Ricky was there to bomb as a musical performer since that’s not what he is. It was supposed to be bad like that. Anyway, after several minutes of a bad performance, the fans got what they wanted when Joe Hendry beat up Ricky. Myles Borne making the save shows that he’s a united babyface with Hendry against the heels on the brand. A happy ending to bring the show to a close.
