The John Report: WWE NXT 07/14/26 Review

This week’s WWE NXT features a Vice-Jordan-Armstrong triple threat match for a shot at the NXT Women’s Title, NXT Tag Team Titles on the line, and more.

Last week’s WWE NXT episode saw Kendal Grey retain the NXT Women’s Title over Natalya in what was a very good main event. That was a taped show to give the talent/staff some time off, and now it’s back to being a live show. The next NXT PLE is Heatwave on August 30th, so they have plenty of time to build up to it.

There were arrivals shown from earlier in the day, including Kelani Jordan, Lola Vice, Kali Armstrong, and Zaria.

The commentary team this week was Vic Joseph and Booker T. The legendary Lilian Garcia was filling in as the ring announcer.

It’s the NXT Tag Team Title match up first to start the show.

NXT Tag Team Championships: The Vanity Project – Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes (w/Jackson Drake & Myka Lockwood) vs. Sean Legacy & Dorian Van Dux

I like how NXT starts the show with action. Legacy used his quickness to hit a dropkick on Smokes. Legacy took down legal man Baylor with an arm drag. DVD tagged in with a slam on Baylor for two. DVD hit a dropkick. Legacy knocked Baylor down with a shoulder tackle and hit two body slams after that. DVD was back in with a slingshot leg drop. Legacy tagged in with a running kick and standing moonsault for two. Baylor made a blind tag, but Legacy was ready and sent both opponents out of the ring. Legacy jumped off the middle ropes with extra height thanks to an assist by DVD and Legacy hit a cross body block on both opponents. The show went on a break for some fans, but I’ll stick with the action since it’s a title match. Legacy and DVD made quick tags as Legacy kicked Baylor, who bailed to the floor. Myka distracted the referee, so Drake tripped up Legacy and Smokes clotheslined Legacy. The heel champions took control. TVP hit a double team belly-to-back suplex on Legacy for two. Baylor and Smokes kept making quick tags as Smokes hit a boot to Legacy’s face to knock him down.
