Reactions From The Wrestling World Following Big E’s WWE Title Win

The big moment on Monday’s WWE Raw was Big E cashing in Money in the Bank to beat Bobby Lashley and leave Raw as the WWE Champion. After the match, the wrestling world reacted to it.

The 35-year-old Big E signed a developmental deal with WWE 12 years ago. He was a champion in the brand new NXT brand. From there, he rose the ranks from Intercontinental Champion to Tag Team Champion, then he won the Intercontinental Title again last year and now he’s the WWE Champion for the first time in his career.

Big E called his shot earlier on Monday when he said he would be at Raw and he would cash-in the Money in the Bank contract. The WWE Title was going to be on the line with Bobby Lashley defending the title he’s held for the past six months against 14-time WWE World Champion Randy Orton. Lashley ended up beating Orton clean, but Lashley tweaked his knee during the match. That meant the WWE Champion was vulnerable, so Big E cashed in the contract forcing Lashley to defend the WWE Title even though he was hurting. Within two minutes, Big E hit the Big Ending on Lashley to become the WWE Champion for the first time.

After the match, Big E was joined in the ring by his New Day buddies Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, both of whom also congratulated Big E on Twitter.

In addition to the New Day guys, plenty more WWE personnel tweeted congratulated Big E on social media.

Even some AEW wrestlers and non-WWE personnel chimed in. Some of them worked in WWE while others did not. They are just happy for the guy.

As the Money in the Bank contract holder, Big E had the option of challenging the WWE Champion Bobby Lashley or WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns with the contract. Big E chose Lashley in the end, but he did tease Paul Heyman about possibly cashing in on Reigns as well.

Reigns chimed in on Big E’s championship win as well.

If Reigns and Big E each hold their titles going into Survivor Series in two months then we might see that match there unless opts for something different than the Raw vs. Smackdown format they have used in the past.
