WWE Announces First Wrestlepalooza Match For Vacant Women’s World Title

The Women’s World Title was recently vacated, and now a match has been announced to crown a new champion at WWE Wrestlepalooza.

At the women-only WWE Evolution PLE on July 13th, former NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer won a star-studded battle royal. The reward for that win was supposed to be Vaquer receiving a Women’s World Title match at Clash In Paris, which took place on August 31st.

Unfortunately for Vaquer, she did not get her World Title match at Clash in Paris because, on the August 18th edition of Raw, Naomi announced that she was pregnant and was vacating the championship immediately.

Since then, it was expected that Raw GM Adam Pearce would address the situation, and he did so on WWE Raw in Paris.

Pearce announced that the vacant Women’s World Title will be on the line at the first-ever WWE Wrestlepalooza PLE on September 20th. The match will see Stephanie Vaquer face off against the former Women’s World Champion, Iyo Sky.

Rather than holding a tournament with multiple women involved, Pearce felt that the best option was a singles match.

WWE Wrestlepalooza Will Likely Feature Brock Lesnar-John Cena Showdown

For the first time in over a decade, old rivals Brock Lesnar and John Cena are expected to be in what could be their last singles match ever at Wrestlepalooza.

After John Cena lost the WWE Title in a great match to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar showed up on WWE TV for the first time in over two years, and he did so by attacking Cena with a devastating F5 to end the show.

The first-ever WWE Wrestlepalooza will also be the company’s debut on the ESPN streaming service (in the US only) as part of a billion-dollar deal.

Other matches at Wrestlepalooza could see Drew McIntyre face Randy Orton, and Seth Rollins teaming up with his wife Becky Lynch against the husband-wife team of CM Punk and AJ Lee, who have been away from WWE for over a decade.
