A former WWE tag team is looking for gold in AEW.

The IIconics were Peyton Royce and Billie Kay in WWE. They are two talented Australian women who are best friends. Their WWE run lasted from 2015 to 2021.

At WrestleMania 35 in 2019, The IIconics became the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. They were the second team to hold those titles, and they had them for 120 days.

After their WWE release, The IIconics went to TNA Wrestling, used the names Jessie McKay & Cassie Lee, and became the Knockouts Tag Team Champions.

Following their initial TNA run, Lee had two sons with husband Shawn Spears in January 2023 and June 2024. McKay also had a son in December 2023. They would eventually make their wrestling return and won the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles in 2025, before losing them in early 2026.

At an AEW live event in Brisbane, Australia, the Australian tag team of The IInspiration officially joined AEW after it was rumored they would be signing there.

The IInspiration Are Trying To Make History

During a Q&A panel at For The Love of Wrestling, The IInspiration’s Jessie McKay spoke about the team’s excitement in becoming All Elite.

“Oh my gosh, it’s so exciting. We can’t wait. To have our debut in Brisbane, Australia, our home country, just puts the cherry on top. We’re really excited.

We came here because there are so many possibilities. Hopefully we get to share the ring with women we’ve never worked with before. There are just so many opportunities and we’re ready for all of it.”

Cassie Lee mentioned the team wants to make history. To date, they are the only Women’s Tag Team to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles and the Knockouts Tag Team Title. They want to add the AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles as well.

“It’s not just one or two people we want to work with — it’s the whole roster. There are a lot of people we’ve never shared a locker room or a ring with before. What we’re most excited about is going after the championships and making some history.”

McKay would go on to mention that AEW has a lot of Australians on the roster already, like their friend Harley Cameron, so that helps too.

“AEW has so many talented people, and wrestling in Australia has really started to grow over the past few years. We know many of them already and they’re all great people. We’re excited to share the locker room with even more Aussies.”

In their first AEW televised match on Dynamite, The IInspiration did not have an inspiring performance since they were destroyed by the Brawling Birds – Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter – in under two minutes.
