WWE Star On Lyra Valkyria: “She Took It Like A Champ”
WWE star Nia Jax acknowledges that the inaugural WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria is extremely “tough.”
Lyra and Nia faced each other in the final of the Queen of the Ring tournament in May 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Nia won the match after Lyra Valkyria failed to powerbomb her off the top rope, allowing Jax to hit her with a brutal Annihilator.
The move raised concerns among fans for Lyra’s safety as Nia had dropped all her weight on Lyra’s ribcage. Lyra Valkyria later revealed that she felt a brutal impact from the spot but was not seriously injured.
Nia Jax Praises Lyra Valkyria For Being “Tough”
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, Nia Jax was asked about crushing Lyra Valkyria with her Annihilator move in Saudi Arabia.
In response, Jax admitted that Lyra is a” tough cookie,” saying she put all 270 pounds of herself onto Lyra’s ribcage and Lyra “took it like a champ.” She gave Lyra full credit for being incredibly “tough.”
“Well, she’s a tough cookie. I’ll tell you that Lyra is a tough cookie. But, yeah, that was something that somebody had pitched for the match, let’s try this, something different. We rehearsed it, but we didn’t go full in rehearsal, right?
I’m like, ‘Hey, this is a one-time shot, you don’t want to keep taking this if you don’t have to.’ So then we did it in the match, and I just remember landing, all 270 pounds of me were into Lyra’s rib cage. So she took it like a champ. I give her all the credit, because she’s tough.”
