WWE Star May Go On Hiatus After Heartbreaking Loss

Analyst Sam Roberts believes a WWE star could be heading toward a hiatus after suffering a heartbreaking loss at the Royal Rumble, and that star is Sami Zayn.

At the Royal Rumble event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Zayn challenged Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship. He earned the title opportunity at Saturday Night’s Main Event after defeating Trick Williams, Damian Priest, and Randy Orton in a fatal four-way match.

Zayn went into the Royal Rumble with high hopes. He had never lost in Saudi Arabia, and a lot of fans felt that streak could quietly work in his favor and maybe help him finally get the big win. But all his dreams came crashing down when McIntyre pinned him to retain the championship.

Following the event, WWE analyst Sam Roberts released an emergency episode on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, where he reviewed the Royal Rumble and its fallout.

Sami Zayn Might Undergo Character Change Amid Potential WWE Hiatus

While discussing Sami Zayn’s loss, Roberts stated that he believes Zayn could now take a hiatus from WWE television. According to Roberts, the loss to Drew McIntyre may lead to Zayn stepping away for a while before returning with a new changed character.

I don’t know where Sammy goes after this. Like that was like a maybe Sammy goes off TV for a while type of defeat because, you know, I think it’s I would imagine he’s going to change character. (From 24:46)

Despite being a multi-time champion, Sami Zayn has yet to capture a world championship in his decade-long WWE run.
