WWE Intentionally Separated Roman Reigns & Megastar At Royal Rumble
This year’s Royal Rumble featured several top WWE stars, like Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
The match also included Brock Lesnar, one of Roman Reigns’ most significant rivals in WWE. Their rivalry has spanned more than a decade and has headlined multiple WrestleMania events.
The last time they faced each other in a singles bout was in a Last Man Standing match at SummerSlam 2022, where Reigns buried Lesnar under the rubble to secure the victory.
With both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns entered in this year’s Royal Rumble match, many fans were hoping to see them come face-to-face, even if only for a few seconds.
WWE Didn’t Want Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar To Clash At Royal Rumble
However, that moment never happened, as Lesnar was eliminated by Cody Rhodes and LA Knight before Reigns even made his way to the ring, leaving fans disappointed.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE intentionally kept Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar apart during the Royal Rumble match.
Reigns ultimately went on to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match. On the following episode of Monday Night Raw, he delivered an intense promo with CM Punk standing across him in the ring, stating that he hates Punk and had chosen him as his opponent for WrestleMania 42.
Punk fired back with shots of his own, and the segment was widely praised by fans and critics alike. It was also reported by PWInsider Elite that WWE management and top executives praised the heated exchange during a recent company-wide town hall meeting.
