WWE Raw Underwent Big Changes At The Last Minute

Vince McMahon Triple H WWE

There were some big changes made to WWE Raw before the show went live on Monday night.

In Norfolk, Virginia – ironically at the same arena where DX infamously “invaded” WCW – WWE produced the final Monday Night Raw of the Vince McMahon era in the company with the Endeavor takeover set for September 12th.

While things might be changing massively for the sports entertainment behemoth, some things seem to have remained the same at Raw with the show seemingly undergoing last-minute changes before going live.

Fightful Select had posted a run sheet shortly before the show went to air but things looked a little different on the show with Fightful then posting an update highlighting the changes made seemingly late in the day. The updated report noted that Raw and the taping for Main Event “changed several times over” with Natalya taking on Zoey Stark being pulled from Main Event.

In addition, Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander vs. The Viking Raiders was scheduled for Raw but was then moved to Main Event. Cody Rhodes was originally listed to open the show but that was changed to Jey Uso opening proceedings.

What else happened on WWE Raw?

Kevin Owens and Jey Uso made an unlikely team but fell to defeat at the hands of the WWE Tag Team Champions Damian Priest and Finn Balor. The lack of cohesiveness between Uso and Owens proved pivotal as Jey Uso nailed his partner with an inadvertent super kick which led to the loss.

Cody Rhodes did appear later in the show in a promo segment but was interrupted by Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh which led to Rhodes clearing the ring of both men.

There was a big surprise in the main event as Rhea Ripley defended her Women’s World Championship against Raquel Rodriguez. Nia Jax made her shock return to the company to take out Rodriguez during the bout which let Ripley win but Jax then attacked Ripley to end the show as the crowd showered her with boos.
