WWE Officials Impressed By Angelo Dawkins

Angelo Dawkins

Street Profits star Angelo Dawkins has reportedly been impressing WWE officials of late and could be set for a singles push.

Since debuting as the Street Profits in 2016, Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford have become one of the biggest teams on the WWE roster.

During their three-year run in NXT, the duo won over the crowd with their undeniable charisma and fought their way up the tag team division. They finally capturing the NXT Tag Team Championships in a Fatal Four-Way match at TakeOver XXV in June 2019, defeating Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch, The Forgotten Sons, and The Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly.

That October, Dawkins and Ford moved up to the main roster, where their popularity continue to grow on Raw. By February 2020, they became embroiled in a feud with Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy and defeated them for the Raw Tag Team Championships on the March 2nd edition of the red brand.

They reigned as the champions for 224 days before being drafted to SmackDown, at which point they traded belts with The New Day, becoming the blue brand’s tag champs instead. They eventually lost the titles to Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode in January 2021.

Since then, they have been unable to reclaim their place at the top of the tag division despite feuds with The Usos on SmackDown and then being drafted back to Raw where they tried to wrest the titles from RK-Bro.

Despite generally coming as a package, the pair also wrestle occasional singles matches and, according to a new report from Fightful Select, this is a side of Angelo Dawkins we are likely to see more of going forward.

The report notes that WWE higher-ups have been impressed with Dawkins lately, with one source crediting him for making improvements “all around”, including his physique, in-ring ability, and even his overall style.

While he’s only wrestled five singles matches since June, Fightful note that is more than he had between WrestleMania in 2021 and May this year.

An AEW wrestler was also noted as having claimed Angelo Dawkins would be the breakout member of the team if he is given more singles opportunities.
