Major Change Coming For WWE NXT PLEs In The US
The WWE NXT PLEs will have a new home after Vengeance Day.
There are changes coming for WWE NXT Premium Live Events for fans in the US. After airing on Peacock for the majority of the last five years, there will be a change after this Saturday’s March 7th Vengeance Day PLE from Orlando.
Writing on the Wrestling Observer Daily Update, Dave Meltzer reports that Peacock’s contract with WWE for NXT PLEs ends at the end of this month.
The Peacock contract with WWE for NXT PLEs ends at the end of March. We’re not sure what service that will move to.
Peacock will remain in the WWE business only for the four Saturday Night’s Main Event shows per year.
The international WWE fanbase watches NXT PLEs on Netflix, so it’s possible that it could be the home for US fans as well, since they already watch Raw on Netflix. As Meltzer mentioned, it’s not known yet.
After Vengeance Day, the next NXT PLE is Stand & Deliver on April 4th in St. Louis. Stand & Deliver has taken place during the same weekend as WrestleMania for several years, but WWE changed it this year, moving it up two weeks to WrestleMania 42 on April 18 & 19.
Joe Hendry Defending WWE NXT Title At Vengeance Day
On the February 3rd edition of WWE NXT, former TNA World Champion Joe Hendry became the NXT Champion by winning a 7-man Ladder Match.
In his first NXT PLE title defense, Hendry will defend the NXT Championship against Ricky Saints, who is a former NXT Champion.
There are currently three matches officially announced for Vengeance Day.
* NXT Championship: Joe Hendry vs. Ricky Saints
* NXT Women’s North American Championship: Izzi Dame vs. Tatum Paxley
* Underground Match: Lola Vice vs. Kelani Jordan
There will likely be more matches announced during this week’s NXT episode.
