WWE NXT Draws Highest Audience In Over Two Years

wwe nxt dominik mysterio ripley rey

The presence of The Judgment Day has drawn another impressive television audience for the WWE NXT brand.

In the main event of WWE NXT on Tuesday night, Dominik Mysterio defended the North American Title against Dragon Lee. While Dominik had “Mami” Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley with him, Dragon was supported by WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio for the match.

Perhaps the presence of Rey Mysterio led to fans thinking there might be a title change, but it didn’t happen. After Ripley threw the North American Title into the ring, Rey got a hold of it, the referee was looking at him and that allowed Ripley to hit Dragon Lee in the back of the head with her title. Dominik followed up with a Michinoku Driver for the pinfall win.

After the match, Lyra Valkyria confronted Ripley and Valkyria/Dragon cleared the ring of Ripley/Dominik to end the show.

NXT Ratings Rise Again

When it comes to television ratings, NXT did very well with an average of 776,000 viewers, according to PWTorch. That’s the highest audience for NXT this year and the highest since April 20, 2021. It’s also up 30% from what NXT drew in the same week last year.

There has been some consistency with NXT’s audience of late because it’s the fourth straight week NXT’s audience has been over 700,000 viewers. That hasn’t happened since March-April of 2021.

In the coveted 18-49 demo, the rating was 0.23, which is the same as what it did over the last two weeks in that demo.

The average audience for the last four weeks of NXT looks like this:

  • July 18, 2023: 746,000 viewers
  • July 25, 2023: 703,000 viewers
  • August 1, 2023: 717,000 viewers
  • August 8, 2023: 776,000 viewers

Here is what is advertised for next week’s August 15th show.

* NXT Tag Team Championships: Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo vs. The Dyad (Fowler & Reid).

* Dijak vs. Wes Lee in a #1 Contender for the NXT Title Match.

* Dana Brooke vs. Blair Davenport.

* Trick Williams vs. Drew Gulak.

The Judgment Day are not advertised for any matches next week yet, but the NXT brand is running a Heatwave special on August 22nd that could see Dominik and Rhea involved again.
