A current WWE NXT star is heading to All Japan Pro Wrestling for a huge championship match in 2024.

In a video posted to All Japan Pro Wrestling’s social media channels, AJPW President Tsuyoki Fukuda said he received a phone call from WWE about an upcoming match.

It was revealed that a “strong superstar” will be coming from WWE’s NXT brand to challenge for the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship.

There is an AJPW event on December 31st that will see Katsuhiko Nakajima defend the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship against Kento Miyahara. Whoever wins that match will face an “assassin” from WWE NXT to challenge the champion in a match on Wednesday, January 3rd.

At the end of the phone call, Fukuda told the person on the other end of the phone to tell his boss at WWE that he said thank you.

It has not been announced who the NXT wrestler will be.

WWE Working With Japanese Promotion For Second Year In A Row

It was on New Year’s Day in January 2023 when WWE sent Shinsuke Nakamura to NOAH to face his wrestling idol The Great Muta in one of Muta’s final matches.

While All Japan Pro Wrestling isn’t as popular as New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2024, it does have a lot of history and many great wrestlers competed there.
