WWE News: Goldberg Challenges Roman Reigns to a Match: “Who’s Next? Roman is NEXT!”

There was an appearance from former WWE and Universal Champion Bill Goldberg on WWE’s “The Bump” online show today. During the appearance, Goldberg made it clear that he wants to have a match with Roman Reigns.

You may recall earlier this year that Goldberg was the Universal Champion that was going to defend that title against Roman Reigns with Reigns like going over to win the title. However, Reigns chose to not compete at WrestleMania due to the COVID-19 health crisis, so Braun Strowman filled in for Reigns and Strowman beat Goldberg to win the Universal Title. Reigns returned to WWE in late August to win the Universal Title, which he’s held since Payback in late August.

During his appearance on The Bump today, Goldberg was asked if he had unfinished business with Reigns. Here’s how Goldberg responded.

“I would say that is one of the most mild understatements that I have ever heard. He backed out on me at WrestleMania. He stole my move, God knows how long ago, and he continues to perform it at a subpar level. Let’s be perfectly honest. I’m the dude who delivers the spear and I don’t think he understands what it’s like until I deliver one to him. So Roman, it’s coming and I’m coming for you. I may be old and gray, but I’m still Goldberg!”

Goldberg is 53 years old (he turns 54 on December 27) and will likely have a few more matches in WWE. He has a contract with WWE that will see him have two matches in 2021 and 2022. After that, who knows? That’s what his contract is now, though.

Here’s a clip from Goldberg’s appearance.

TJR Thoughts: Groan. I don’t care and I don’t want to see it. I’m tired of Goldberg appearances and matches. I saw him in his prime. He is well past that point. I assume the match will happen with Reigns getting the win. Maybe it will be Royal Rumble or maybe the Elimination Chamber PPV after that. I really hope it’s not WrestleMania and that WWE has something better for Roman at that show.
