WWE Makes Massive Change To Championship

Triple H holding WWE Title

One WWE championship has undergone a radical transformation as the current champion has made a massive change.

After William Regal cost his own son the NXT Heritage Cup against Lexis King, the title has hung in the balance for weeks. That was settled on the January 21 edition of NXT when King definitively defeated Charlie Dempsey to claim the cup.

William Regal had been trying to keep Lexis King on the straight and narrow as King battled to be unlike his father, the late Brian Pillman, but now King has abandoned that pretence.

Lexis King Changes WWE Title Rules

On the February 4 edition of NXT, Lexis King took to the ring to make some changes. Despite entering NXT and making a big deal about changing his name and running down his father’s legacy, he’s now accepted that he’s at his best when he’s his father’s son.

King also announced that he was changing the rules of the Heritage Cup and it would now no longer be defended in matches with rounds and instead just be one fall to a finish. This makes the cup the same as every other title in the company now.

There was a surprise in store for Lexis King, however, as a former WWE star confronted King and announced they had secured a title match for the Heritage Cup on the next episode of NXT TV.
