WWE Legend Goldberg Faces Shocking Allegation From Ex-World Champion

Goldberg WWE Hall of Fame

Goldberg has been a hot topic of discussion among wrestling fans this week.

The WWE Hall of Famer criticized the promotion of disrespecting him by allowing “some girl” to surpass his 173-day unbeaten record, which he held in WCW.

The ‘girl’ that he referred to is Asuka, who is a five-time Women’s World Champion in the Stamford promotion and a four-time Tag Team Champion.

After his comments gained traction, The Empress of Tomorrow put out a post on social media, claiming she remains unbothered by them.

While many former WWE performers have lambasted Goldberg’s criticism, some understand where these sentiments have stemmed from.

Goldberg was previously critical of how the promotion handled his retirement, as his post-match speech was cut short after just 30 seconds.

While the speech was uploaded in its entirety on WWE’s YouTube page, the 58-year-old seemed none too happy.

WWE Legend Goldberg Faces Accusation Of Being Difficult To Work With

According to many critics, Goldberg was placed on a pedestal in WCW.

His in-ring aggression and squash matches made him a household name in the late 1990s. His 173-match undefeated streak came to an end at the hands of Kevin Nash.

By this time, WCW was creatively struggling and needed a fresh perspective going forward.

In walked Vince Russo.

Russo had departed WWE after falling out with then-boss Vince McMahon, after which he joined the rival promotion as the creative writer.

The 64-year-old, who is a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, played ‘Nice or Mean’ during an appearance on Maven’s YouTube channel, where he labelled Goldberg as mean, accusing him of being difficult to work with.

Listen, I said there were gonna be very few ‘means.’ The most difficult personality that I ever had to work with. He just bought his own hype. I needed Bill to do a job for Scott Steiner, and he refused to. And I said to him, “Bill, can you tell me why?” And he said to me, “Because if this were real, I would kick Steiner’s a**.” [3:38 onwards]
