WWE Legend Calls Out Goldberg Over Controversial Comments
Goldberg recently sparked controversy with his comments about Asuka.
During a recent podcast appearance, he referred to Asuka dismissively as “some girl at WWE.” He expressed frustration that WWE allowed Asuka to surpass his famous undefeated streak of 173 matches in WCW. This remark offended many fans and wrestling insiders as it seemed to belittle Asuka’s impressive achievements and legacy in WWE.
Asuka responded with grace and maturity, stating that Goldberg’s remarks did not bother her and emphasized that her focus is on creating a new era in wrestling rather than chasing records.
Asuka said, “Goldberg’s comments about me are all over the news right now. But honestly, I’m not bothered by it at all. What he said came from his own perspective, and that’s fine. So there’s really no need to make such a big deal out of it.”
Booker T Defends Asuka Against Goldberg
Recently, weighed in on the situation during his Hall of Fame podcast. He emphasized that veterans should be supportive rather than critical of young wrestlers, underscoring the need to respect the evolving landscape of professional wrestling.
“You know, I hate to say this because Goldberg’s a friend of mine. But I think these old guys need to stay out of what these young guys are doing. We had our time. For us to think about, in any way, knocking what these young guys and girls are doing today, it’s just totally out of bounds. We had our time, we ran hard, it was a great time.”
“For us to talk about what these young guys are doing right now in a negative way, I think it’s wrong in any way, shape, or form. Critiquing the wrestling is something we do. I’m just glad I’m one of the guys who try to lean to the side that old school is cool, but we’re in a different era now.” [H/T Ringside News]
