This WWE legend and current creative team member shared something close to his heart on Unreal.

Road Dogg “Jesse James”, as he was called back when he was a wrestler in WWE as a part of the legendary DX faction, is currently leading creative and writing for SmackDown and is also Senior Vice President of live events.

He was one half of the legendary tag team, The New Age Outlaws, with “Badass” Billy Gunn, who held the WWE Tag Team Championships five times. In his singles run, he also won the Intercontinental and Hardcore Championships.

Road Dogg struggled with substance abuse, however, and later went into recovery. In the January 20th episode of WWE: Unreal, Road Dogg discusses his struggles with addiction and how he and a fellow addict and WWE star, R-Truth, who would also later recover, built a long-lasting friendship.

Road Dogg Gets Emotional On WWE: Unreal Episode

Road Dogg details his relationship with R-Truth in this episode. The two were part of a tag team at the start of the 2000s when Truth’s name was K-Kwik.

Road Dogg confesses that drug addiction problems made his in-ring work difficult. He gets emotional while talking about forging the relationship he has with R-Truth, which was one of the things that happened due to their shared interests at the time.

I have some memorable moments that I’m proud of as far as wrestling goes. But the in-ring part is diffiult for me and I’ll tell you why. Recovering dug addict. A lot of my performance was under the influence.

It’s the relationships that I forged through my addiction, R-Truth is one of them, Ron Killings. That’s probably what I’m most proud of.

Both of them cleaned up their act and are part of the Stamford-based promotion in different but important roles.

I’m so happy that I can share that with you. That I’m here and sober, that’s such a rewarding thing for me.
