4-Time WWE Champion Seemingly Confirms Retirement At 42
A former WWE world champion has seemingly confirmed their retirement.
Braun Strowman had multiple stints with the Stamford promotion. Real name Adam Scherr, Strowman was introduced on Raw in 2015 as a member of The Wyatt Family.
After acting as the enforcer of the faction for nearly a year, he was kept on Raw, whereas other members of The Wyatt Family were drafted to SmackDown.
This led to Strowman starting his singles career, gradually picking up a feud with Roman Reigns.
At the 2017 TLC pay-per-view, he was involved in a five-on-three handicap match against the members of The Shield, which included Reigns. During the match, his teammates turned on him, leading to him turning babyface.
At WrestleMania 36 in 2020, he replaced Reigns in his title match against Goldberg, who was the then-WWE Universal Champion. On Night 1, Strowman defeated him to become a world champion for the first time. He held the title nearly five months before he was defeated by Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam.
He was released in June 2021.
