Will Ospreay has now had 28 matches rated five stars or higher by Dave Meltzer.

Competing multiple times over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the match that received the coveted rating did not take place inside Wembley Stadium, as his first-ever clash with Chris Jericho was rated 4.75 stars.

The day before All In the IWGP UK Champion competed against Shingo Takagi at the RevPro 11th anniversary show. The match was described in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter as “unreal” and the crowd in attendance gave it a standing ovation after the final bell rang. In attendance for the event, Dave Meltzer has awarded the match five stars.

The five-star rating now gives Takagi 16 matches overall with the prestigious rating, ranking him tied 7th on the all-time list, equalling Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Ospreay now has 4 matches rated five stars or above in 2023 alone, with 3 of those all taking place in different promotions [AEW, NJPW and RevPro].

The match at RevPro was also the contest that saw Chris Jericho make an appearance. Prior to the opening bell, a masked figure ran into the ring and jumped Ospreay. The mystery attacker would unmask to reveal themselves to be the former AEW Champion.

Will Ospreay Set To Become Free Agent

Being very vocal about the fact that his contract with New Japan is coming up next year, MJF will not be the only wrestler starting a bidding war in 2024. The Ariel Assassin has stated that he is “open to all options” once his current contract has ended.
