Will Cody Rhodes Appear On WWE SmackDown Tonight? Status Revealed

Last week on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton signed their contracts for the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 42.

However, things did not end on a happy note for The American Nightmare, as Orton beat him senseless, bloodying him by hitting him on the forehead with the steel steps.

Randy continued throwing several punches to his head until the champion relinquished all control. The Viper appeared to have backed out of the attack after the officials intervened; however, he reappeared and hit a chair shot to Cody Rhodes with his head between the steps.

Cody Rhodes Misses Tonight’s SmackDown

As reported by PWInsider, Cody Rhodes will miss tonight’s taping of WWE SmackDown in Raleigh, North Carolina.

It acts as a way for WWE to sell the impact of Randy Orton’s attack on the champion.

Orton, on the other hand, will be on the show later to explain his actions from last week. The 45-year-old was also featured in a segment on Monday Night Raw, where he was seen speaking to a mystery person on the phone, sparking a discussion about their identity.

It remains to be seen whether or not he reveals who he is being backed by.
