Wade Barrett thinks it would be good news if WWE were to sign fellow British wrestler, Nick Aldis.

As a WWE announcer on Smackdown for the past seven months along with a few years on commentary in NXT, Wade Barrett has a good idea of what makes a WWE superstar. Barrett is a former Intercontinental Champion and King of the Ring that also headlined pay-per-view events with some of the biggest WWE stars of all time like John Cena and Randy Orton.

Nick Aldis is a few years younger than Barrett, but just like Wade, he’s a taller British with a lot of experience. Aldis is a skilled talker that looks the part of a pro wrestler and also is very talented in the ring.

When the calendar turned to 2023, Nick Aldis became a wrestling free agent after spending over four years with the National Wrestling Alliance. While there, Aldis was a two-time Worlds Heavyweight Champion. His second reign lasted 1,043 days, which is the sixth longest in history.

Prior to his run in the NWA, Nick Aldis was known as Magnus in TNA/Impact Wrestling where he also held that company’s World Title.

While speaking to Alistair McGeorge for The Metro, Barrett spoke about WWE possibly signing Aldis.

“I think first of all, he’s a fantastic talker, he’s got a great look, he’s a really good representative for this industry in general, and I love his classic throwback in-ring style. It reminds me a bit of Harley Race, kind of the pompous Englishman element adds to it as well. I’d love to see Nick involved.”

“He’s a guy I’ve got a lot of respect for, I think he’ll have gonna have success whatever he ends up doing, whether it’s on the independents, whether it’s going back to NWA, or to any other company – or hopefully one day, come over to WWE.”

“I think he’s got a lot he can contribute. In terms of supporters, I’m certainly on board as a supporter of Nick Aldis one day coming to WWE.”

In addition to his own success as a pro wrestler, Nick Aldis is also married to Mickie James, who is the current Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion that is destined for the WWE & Impact Hall of Fames in the future.
