Vince McMahon Almost Added Male Star To Blockbuster Sasha Banks Match In WWE

A former WWE star disclosed that he was about to be added to Sasha Banks’ main event match by Vince McMahon. The star in discussion is Reginald.

Back in 2021, Sasha Banks (aka Mercedes Mone) defended her Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair in the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 37. The two women made history by being the first two black women to headline Mania and delivered a great match. Bianca captured the title from Sasha and went on to climb the ladder of stardom.

However, the historic match between Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair was about to be made a triple threat by Vince McMahon, according to the latest revelation.

Vince McMahon could’ve added a male star to Sasha Banks’ major WWE match

Speaking with Rewind Recap Relive, former WWE star Reginald was asked whether he has stories about Vince McMahon thinking highly of him. Reginald revealed that he has a lot of stories while recalling how he almost main-evented WrestleMania 37. Reggie disclosed that Vince wanted to make the main event a triple-threat inter-gender match with him, Sasha Banks, and Bianca Belair:

Brother, I have a million, just one that’s ridiculous off the bat, I almost main evented WrestleMania. It was an intergender match… If I would have been in this match, I would have got so much heat from everyone because this match had such — like, this was a huge match. This was a first… Vince wanted a triple threat between Sasha, Bianca, and myself.”

Reginald further recalled that when his onscreen pairing with Carmella ended, he was supposed to have a love angle with Sasha Banks, which would eventually lead to him being added to the Mania 37 main event along with Sasha and Bianca:

So Carmella fired me and I was supposed to fall in love with Sasha, all of these different things. So Vince calls all of us into the office. Me, Sasha and Bianca, and we have some producers and writers there. He says, ‘This is what I’m thinking, Reggie, you buy her a dog, she loves you, and you’re playing every week in the middle, but the thing is you have an endgame. You will come out and announce that this is no longer a singles. This is a triple threat.’” [H/T f4wonline.com]

Reginald concluded that Sasha Banks rejected the love angle storyline and argued with Vince McMahon, which led Vince to eventually nix the plans of adding Reggie to the Sasha and Bianca match.
