Unfortunate Update On Triple H’s WWE Backstage Status (Reports)
Triple H became the head of creative for WWE in July 2022 after the initial retirement of Vince McMahon. He was later promoted to the role of Chief Content Officer in September 2022.
In October 2023, following the merger of WWE and UFC into TKO Group Holdings, Triple H was given nearly complete control of WWE’s creative direction.
When Triple H first took over creative leadership, fans were very happy and praised the changes he brought to WWE programming. However, over time, that praise started to turn into frustration.
Many fans have criticized him on social media, accusing him of poor booking, repetitive storytelling, and a lack of fresh creative ideas. There have even been some reports suggesting that executives within TKO are somewhat dissatisfied with his current performance.
WWE Insider Comments On Triple H’s Booking Amid Fan Backlash
A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter also discussed internal opinions about the current situation. According to the report, one person within WWE noted that it is currently difficult for Triple H to play the role of a “babyface booker,” behind the scenes.
The report also mentioned how challenging it can be to deal with an online community that constantly criticizes creative decisions. It stated that it is important to separate genuine criticism from people who simply criticize everything without understanding the business side of professional wrestling.
According to WON, things might improve if there were fewer direction changes and second-guessing.
The belief is that if Triple H focuses less on trying to be the “sage architect” behind every decision and instead sticks to a clearer creative direction, he could have a much easier time and perform at least on the same level as he did earlier in his run as WWE’s head of creative.
One person in the company noted at this point in time, it’s tough playing babyface booker, the ultra-wise manipulator behind the scenes. It was noted how tough it is with an online community that is critical.
It was noted that you have to be able to decipher the true criticism from those who just like to criticize everything you do, saying it’s bad with zero concept of whether it is or not or of business.
It was noted that things would be better, and there would be less direction changing and second guessing, instead of Levesque trying to be the sage architect, he’d have a much easier time of it and he’d be doing “at least on par with how he was doing before.”
