Triple H’s creative authority may be limited in WWE.

Triple H has been in charge of WWE creative direction for a few years now. When he first took over creative control, everything was going well. The storylines around WrestleMania 40 were critically acclaimed.

However, in recent years, Triple H has come under a lot of scrutiny for his poor booking decision. Many fans and critics have slammed the sports entertainment juggeranaut for being more focused on many money than delivery a quality product to their audience. During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Karrion Kross blamed “new players” for breaking the continuity that takes place on television which hurts the product. He also said that there are people above The Game who call things in and the latter has to make the best of the choices presented to him.

“If I had to guess, I would say that there are people who call things in, and he has to make the best of what they want to play out on television and the PLEs. That’s just my guess. I base that on pattern recognition. That’s a thing that has become very prevalent, especially with Gen Z – when it comes to entertainment, if you’re creating something episodic with continuity, when continuity fails, there’s a red light that goes off, people go, ‘What happened here?’ Especially with wrestling,”

“Now that there’s new players involved, when there’s a failure of continuity and people don’t like it, it removes people from the suspension of disbelief, that entertainment. I don’t think that’s him. He has his own patterns that I think were aligned with what the audience wanted to see, and that’s speaking as a person who used to work for him. And I knew when he could call all of his shots, and I had an idea of when he couldn’t. To me, this looks like a situation where he can’t call all of the shots. And I don’t mean that disrespectfully at all.”

Vince Russo agreed with Karrion Kross’ comments about Triple H

During a recent edition of Behind The Turnbuckle Studios’ Coach & Brow Show, Vince Russo agreed with Karrion Kross’ comments, stating that Triple H might’ve had full creative control in the beginning, but that’s no longer the case. Vince Russo also believes that Triple H should take back full creative control now that things are going south.

“Yeah, my take was that’s what the situation turned into. I would believe he had full creative control at the beginning, but looking at the results, now that chime in, you know, Coach, we’re talking about New York at the beginning of this show. George Steinbrenner, bro, when the Yankees started going south, George got involved. Yes, he did. He got involved with lineups like he got involved. This case sounds very, very similar to me. It really does.”

It remains to be seen how Triple H will be able to improve the product moving forward.
