Triple H Will Allegedly Throw CM Punk Under The Bus After WWE WrestleMania
CM Punk is set to headline WrestleMania 42 on Sunday.
On April 19, he will defend his title against Roman Reigns, who picked Punk as his champion of choice for the Show of Shows after winning the Royal Rumble in January.
It is only the second time in Punk’s illustrious career that he will be main-eventing WrestleMania. On last year’s show, he was featured in a triple threat match alongside Reigns and Seth Rollins, where he and the OTC were betrayed by Paul Heyman on Night 1.
While CM Punk has claimed that he buried the hatchet with the WWE Chief Content Officer before returning to the company in November 2023, the existing tensions between them have been well-documented.
After leaving the company in 2014, Punk accused Triple H of burying talent at his will on numerous occasions. Punk himself fell victim to his current boss’s politicking at the 2011 Night of Champions match, which he believed he should have won.
Since his return to WWE, Punk has remained one of the faces of the company, becoming a multi-time World Heavyweight Champion.
CM Punk Will Fall Victim To Triple H’s Politicking Again, Believes Vince Russo
CM Punk’s first major title reign after returning to WWE lasted barely five minutes, as Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at SummerSlam 2025 to beat his arch-nemesis.
Many fans sympathized with Punk’s situation in the company, believing that time was running out for The Second City Saints.
Regardless, he reclaimed the championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event in November 2025 by beating Jey Uso and has remained the champion on Raw ever since.
One of the major problems WWE has been dealing with leading up to WrestleMania is poor ticket sales. With only two days left for the event, thousands of tickets have yet to be sold across both nights.
Former employee Vince Russo has claimed that Triple H will pin the blame on CM Punk for failing to bring in the crowd as the champion of the flagship brand.
While speaking on his podcast, Vince Russo said the following:
What’s the basic fundamentals of professional wrestling? They’re gonna be 40,000 short of selling out both nights…they’re gonna look at Game, what is Game gonna say? Punk didn’t draw as a champion. Obviously, they’re not interested in Punk as a champion because he didn’t sell out WrestleMania. That’s the first thing everybody in the room is going to say. Punk didn’t draw. We’ve seen it a million times.
