A former WWE writer has revealed a shocking story about the current Chief Content Officer, Triple H.

D’Lo Brown joined the Stamford-based company in 1997, only a few months after The Game signed with the promotion. Over the next few years, the two superstars shared the ring a few times.

In a recent episode of The Coach & Bro Show, former WWE head writer Vince Russo recalled the time he wrote a script in which Brown would beat Triple H. He revealed that The Game refused to put over the five-time champion. Russo noted that Brown may not even know this story.

Coach, I swear, bro, I’ll never forget this. And I don’t even know if I’ve told this story. I don’t even know if D’Lo knows this story. I was the writer of the show and I wrote in the script for Triple H to put over D’Lo Brown. And Triple H had a problem with it and wouldn’t do it. And, Coach, I read Triple H the freaking riot act.

I said, ‘Bro, he has put you over 97 times. the one single time when I want you to put him over, you’re gonna have a problem with that?’ I will never forget that because, bro, if you would have asked D’Lo to put your grandmother over, D’Lo would have put your grandmother over, bro. [3:19 onwards]

D’Lo Brown Says Triple H Was Really Respected In The WWE Locker Room

In an interview with The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling Podcast in 2017, former WWE Superstar D’Lo Brown spoke highly of Triple H and his ability to run WWE.

At the time, Vince McMahon was still in charge, but the former Intercontinental Champion predicted that The Game would do really well if he succeeded the former chairman. Brown also described Triple H as a “ring general,” stating that he was really respected in the locker room.

He is always one of the boys. He is a ring general and he knew had control of the ring and that was something he was really good at. He was really respected in the locker room and I never saw that business side of him until he got into it and I thought that he was perfect for that by just knowing him. I didn’t see it happening but once you start to see it than you say okay, he is going to do really well. [H/T: Fightful]
