Triple H denied Seth Rollins a request based on ethical grounds.

In mid-2025, WWE conceived one of the most controversial plots in wrestling history that started with Rollins getting injured at Saturday Night’s Main Event XL during his match against LA Knight.

Midway through the match, Rollins injured himself after landing awkwardly following a back flip off the ropes. He recovered briefly, only for The Megastar to hit him with a BFT for the win.

Over the next few months, Rollins posted injury updates on social media via posts and videos. All this time, he held the Money in the Bank contract, too.

After CM Punk’s World Heavyweight Championship victory over Gunther at SummerSlam, Rollins appeared on crutches. However, he dropped them, revealing his injury to be a ruse.

He cashed in the contract on a worn-out Punk and beat him to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

The ruse was extremely controversial, so much so that it reportedly brought tension into the locker room.

Triple H Calls Out Seth Rollins Over Unprofessionalism

On January 20, Netflix released Season 2 of WWE: Unreal.

In one of the episodes, Triple H and Seth Rollins discussed their respective roles in the latter’s fake injury storyline.

Rollins, in fact, thought that LA Knight should be kept in the dark about the ruse. However, Triple H rejected the idea right away.

In the interview, the Chief Content Officer explained that he could not see a story come to light where the performers did not know the plot end-to-end.

I said, ‘Seth, if the roles were reversed and I didn’t tell you, you would be out of your mind pissed at me. You’re a professional, and when you’re in the ring your first thought is to make sure your opponent doesn’t get hurt,” Triple H told him. “So what if he gets hurt on your watch and you find out later that it’s all bulls***? Rollins understood the point his boss was making and agreed to it.
