The Undertaker Learned Valuable Lessons From WWE Hall Of Famer
The Undertaker has expressed gratitude for the lessons he learned from a controversial WWE Hall of Famer.
When The Undertaker was building his legacy in WWE, one of his first major opponents was Jake “The Snake” Roberts. The two WWE Hall of Famers met at WrestleMania 8, which was Taker’s second WrestleMania event.
At that point in his career, Roberts was an established veteran who had success as a face a heel. At WrestleMania 8, it was all about the Deadman since The Undertaker beat Jake easily in under seven minutes. The finish was memorable because Undertaker gave Roberts a Tombstone on the floor, then he put Jake into the ring and pinned him.
As the years progressed, The Undertaker ended up being a locker room leader and he had a long career that saw him wrestling into his 50s.
On an episode of Taker’s Six Feet Under Podcast with Roberts as a guest, the Deadman talked about the life lessons he learned.
“I just know that — we have some sordid history, but with that sordid history, like being in the car with this man is just — it’s like one life lesson after another. Good and bad. But the things that, the things that I learned about the business and conducting myself within the locker room around the WWF then, WWE now.
The lessons that I learned, the little tidbits, the nuggets of things that people just don’t think about that he does? I’ve carried them. I mean, I’ve carried them my whole career and –oh, absolutely, I used them.”
Jake Roberts Changed Location Of The Undertaker’s WrestleMania Tombstone
Regarding their WrestleMania 8 match, Jake Roberts revealed in a 2022 edition of his Snake Pit podcast that he changed the location of the Tombstone from the ring to the floor.
“The point is, him doing it to you in the ring, everybody could’ve seen it better. And that’s where I screwed up. It wasn’t something where I didn’t want to do the job. If I didn’t want to do the job, I’d never DDT’d him once.”
