The Rock Gives A Heart-Warming Gift To An Altruistic Navy Veteran

Although The Rock is no longer an active wrestler, he showed that he is still ‘The People’s Champion’ at heart by giving a prized possession to a US Navy veteran.

The ‘Great One’ is known for his acts of kindness, and for Thanksgiving held a private screening of Red Notice for his fans. At the event, he gave away merchandise from many of the brands he has invested in over the years.

While for many celebrities, this might already be seen as going above and beyond, The Rock decided to go even further by giving away one of his own prized possessions, a personalised Ford pick-up truck.

The lucky recipient was US Navy veteran Coach Oscar Rodriguez. The former WWE Champion had heard about how Rodriguez takes care of his 75-year-old mother as well as being a leader at his local church, and giving support to domestic abuse victims, and wanted to suprise him with something special.

On Instagram, The Rock detailed how the surprise came about, saying he initially wanted to give away the Porsche Taycan that he drove in Red Notice.

“Today was a good day.

Merry Christmas @coach_orod and enjoy your new truck [red truck emoji]

I invited fans to a special theater screening of RED NOTICE and I wanted to do something cool for all of them.

Free concessions, @projectrock, @teremana, @zoaenergy, @saltandstraw ice cream.
Free everything and a great time at the movies!

I also wanted to do something BIG… something MASSIVE…
something unforgettable for one fan.

My original idea was to give away the Porsche Taycan, that I drive in the movie, Red Notice.
So we reached out to Porsche, but they said no.

But I still said, yes [wink emoji]
I’ll do one better.
I’ll give away my personal custom truck as the gift.

I gathered as much information as I could about everyone in the audience and ultimately, Oscar’s story moved me.

Takes care of his 75 year old mom.
Personal trainer.
Leader at his church.
Provides support and meals for women victimized by domestic violence.
Proud & humble Navy veteran.
Kind human being.

Oscar said it right, just before he drove away ~ it’s just love.

That’s all it is, brother.
Just love.

Go enjoy your new truck dude and Merry Christmas to you and your family!!! [fist emoji] [red truck emoji]

The Rock has previously given away a truck to Downtown Bruno, also known as Harvey Wippleman, as thanks for helping him out early in his wrestling career.

He can currently be seen in his new Netflix movie, Red Notice, alongside Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and a certain golden egg that recently starred on WWE TV.
