The Rock Cut Ties With Ex-WWE Champion After Corny Joke

The Rock had to call it quits with a former champion in WWE after they went a step too far with a joke.

We’ve all misjudged a joke from time to time, but very few people get to do that with WWE legend, The Rock. But that’s exactly what happened to former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Sonya Deville – these days best known as TNA’s Daria Rae.

The Rock Stopped The Voice Memos

Speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Rae recalled her interactions with The Rock after she wore a turtleneck and chain combination that reminded many people of an infamous look The People’s Champ once rocked:

Me and Dwayne Johnson — The Rock — we have had a DM exchange. It was because I wore a turtleneck and I kind of mimicked his iconic outfit with the chain and the turtleneck, and I tagged him in it and I was like, ‘Wow, my Rock outfit.’

And he DM’d me with a voice memo… ‘Yo, D, that’s so cool. I’m watching you.’ And I mean, I don’t fangirl easily, but that got me. I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ He took the time to sit there and voice note me back and forth and we went back and forth for a couple times.

But the conversation eventually came crashing to a halt after Rae made an unfortunate joke:

Then I made some like really corny joke — like a movie reference — and then that was the end. And I was like, ‘Okay, Daria… yeah.’
