The Rock Breaks Character To Reflect On WrestleMania 40

The Rock on WWE SmackDown

The Rock has shared his thoughts on the success of WrestleMania 40.

‘The Final Boss’ competed in his first advertised WWE bout in 11 years on Night One at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial FIeld, joining forces with Roman Reigns to battle Cody Rhodes and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins in a thrilling tag team main event.

It proved a successful evening for ‘The People’s Champion’, who pinned Rhodes to ensure that the Night Two main event between ‘The American Nightmare’ and Reigns would be fought under Bloodline Rules.

Rhodes finally captured the Undisputed WWE Championship in a chaotic main event, with The Rock unable to help his cousin to victory thanks to interference from the likes of John Cena, Seth Rollins and The Undertaker. It was the culmination of a captivating storyline that has received rave reviews, with many describing it as the best WrestleMania build of all-time.

The Rock maintained his villainous persona as he announced his temporary departure from WWE television during Raw on 8th April, but recently broke character to post his reflections on a successful event on social media site ‘X’:

“Thank you to everyone who tuned in. Pro wrestling is in my blood and it was an honor to help build and deliver this event to the world – Final Boss

#WrestleMania40 Peacock’s Most Streamed Entertainment Event Ever.”

The Rock Planning WWE Return

Despite stepping away from WWE television for the time being due to filming commitments, it seems certain that WWE fans have not seen the last of The Rock.

Recent reports suggest that he will return and could even defend the The People’s Championship title gifted to him by Muhammad Ali’s widow Lonnie at the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
